NOTE: The Aug. 10 print edition of the Gilroy Dispatch issued the incorrect date for the local nonprofit fundraising day at the farmers market. The correct date is Aug. 19.

The Gilroy Farmers’ Market will host a fundraising day for local nonprofits on Sunday, Aug. 19 at the market, which regularly takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays on the corner of Monterey and Seventh streets.

Representatives from 10 local nonprofits will be on hand to share their mission, offer outreach and fundraise for their cause. The regular market will also feature 20 produce and artisan vendors selling a cache of goodies that includes, to name just a handful of examples: Fresh melon, handmade Manzanita wood necklaces, heirloom tomatoes, local honey, juicy strawberries, fluffy homemade scones, goat milk soaps and lotions, roasted garlic hummus, purple carrots, plant starters from the Gilroy Demonstration Garden and tons more. Come check it out and stock your fridge with locally-grown goodness.

“Our small farmers really need your help,” wrote Market Manager Kersty Daniels. “They are really working hard to establish themselves in the market. Please remember to stop by one of their booths and take home a little something special. Give them your support.”

Musician Jake Pierre will be providing entertainment Sunday and making his debut at the market.
