Dear Editor,
On behalf of all the members of the Gilroy Fire Fighters Association, I would like to thank all of you who contributed to our annual MDA “Fill the Boot” fundraiser. This year you donated $7,000 to the fire fighters to help “Jerry’s Kids.”
I would also like to thank Nob Hill Foods and all of their staff. Every year Nob Hill Foods allows us to set up camp in front of their store. They kept the fire fighters going with food and drinks while they braved the 100-degree temperatures. I would like to thank Starbucks Coffee, who also allowed us to be in front of their store.
The Gilroy Fire Fighters also thank the City of Gilroy’s Fire Department Public Education Specialist Yvette Phillips. She coordinated her team of volunteers, Paid Call Fire fighters and her own family over the weekend for this event.
Finally, I would like to thank the members of the Gilroy Fire Fighters Women’s Auxiliary. This group is comprised of the family members of the Gilroy Fire Fighters Association. They came out in support of us and our cause.
Every year fire fighters across this nation support the MDA through “Fill the Boot” events and softball tournaments. This year you made it possible for the International Association of Fire Fighters to donate more than $20 million to the MDA. The Gilroy Fire Fighters, the International Association of Fire Fighters and the MDA thank you.
