A motorcycle rider from Gilroy was involved in a collision Sunday with a Marin County Transit bus on State Route 1 in west Marin, according to CHP Officer Andrew Barclay.

Rafael Cebrero, 64, was traveling northbound on SR-1 at 1:20 p.m. when he lost control of his 2000 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle, crossed into the southbound lane and struck the left side of the bus, Officer Barclay said.

Cebrero and his motorcycle ended up back in the northbound lane after the collision. The driver and the roughly 35 passengers on board the bus weren’t hurt and Cebrero only suffered minor injuries. Cebrero was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was transported to Marin General Hospital, according to Officer Barclay.

Both lanes of SR-1 were closed for approximately 25 minute while emergency personnel responded to the accident.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, Officer Barclay added.
