Marie Tognazzini

Marie Tognazzini passed away Friday at the age of 96. She was born in Hollister and has lived here all of her life. She was predeceased by her husband Werner Tognazzini and her daughter, Florence J. Vallejo. Marie is survived by her son-in-law, Anthony Vallejo of Hollister, grandchildren, Craig Vallejo, wife, Kristen, of Hollister and Debra Reimche, husband, Jack, of Elk Grove, great-grandchildren, Kyle Vallejo, Nick Mason, Jessica Reimche and Cade Vallejo. She also is survived by many other family members.

Carmela T. Bozzo

Carmela Bozzo's funeral Mass will be today, Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5th and College Streets, Hollister.

Holly K. Roascio

Holly K. Roascio passed away June 16th, 2009 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital at the age of 45 years. Holly was a native of Hollister, had graduated from San Benito High School and lived here most of her life.

Anthony R. Garcia (Sonny)

Anthony Garcia passed on unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at his home in Gold Beach, OR. Tony was born in Hollister, CA. He was the eldest son of Anthony J. Garcia and Lillian C. (Mattos) Garcia. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Anna Marie Kessler. Tony graduated from San Benito High School in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart , Jan Gonzales. Tony was looking forward to this year's San Benito High School 50th reunion. In January 1960, Tony joined the U.S. Army; he served stateside with the 101st Airborn Division in Fort Campbell, KY. He was honorably discharged in 1964. Tony moved to Meford, OR where he joined his father's business, "Tony's Mobile Home Towing and Service." He learned heavy equipment and truck driving. Tony then became co-owner of the business. He later moved to Brookings, OR. Tony retired in 1997. He was a member of the N.R.A and the American Legion. He had a special appreciation for classic cars, especially the 454 Chevys. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on his homestead, "The Garcia Ranch." He is survived by his three children, Anthony C. Garcia, Julie Garcia-Smith, and Santo Garcia; a brother, William R. Garcia; two sisters Lillian Hill and Marjorie Bingham and two grandchildren who he adored, Samantha Smith and Ryan Garcia. He is in God's hands and forever in our hearts. Memorial services were held in Gold Beach, OR.

Irmgard ‘Irma’ Gippetti

Born Irmgard Hartman, Irma is survived by her husband of 55 years Carmen "Babe" Gippetti, son Michael Gippetti, daughter and son-in-law Rosanne and Del Struthers and son and daughter-in law Jeffrey and Toni Gippetti as well as her four grandchildren Chelese, Drew, and Rachelle Struthers and Dominic Gippetti.

T. Scott Laird, M.D.

Terry Scott Laird, M. D., died May 19, 2009, in Santa Cruz, CA, at the age of 67. Scott was born November 22, 1941 in Oakdale, CA, a fourth generation native born Californian, to May and Terry Turner Laird, M.D. He is survived by his wife, Ruth , his sons, David , Michael and Sam, his sister, Jane Laird Sharp, daughters-in law, Joyce Laird, and Heather Reed, his grandgirls Marisa, Keiko, Anabela and Abby Laird, nieces, nephews and great-nephew.

Paul James Staudenmaier

Paul passed away peacefully in his Morgan Hill home. Paul was born in Sacramento, grew up in Tracy, and settled in Morgan Hill, for the rest of his life. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving his country for 20 years in the Navy. After military retirement, he worked at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), and actively served his community by founding the South County Neighborhood Disaster Preparedness Project (SCNDDP) in Morgan Hill. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Staudenmaier; daughters, Anna Buck, Marcella Robinson and Paige Staudenmaier: his sister, Marjorie Philpott, and son-in-law, Cory Robinson. A Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of his life at Ragoots Restaurant, both in Morgan Hill. A private burial will take place on June 29, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul's memory to the Stanford Cancer Center or Hospice of the Valley.

Rex Ward

Rex Ward, a native of Arkansas moved to California in the 1950's, and to Hollister in the 70's. He worked at E.A. Thompson, San Benito Rockery, McKinnon Lumber, and Crofts Lofts. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the family home. He is also survived by his children: Marilyn Westphal of Hollister, John Westphal of Herald, Marsha Norlock of Watsonville, Rex Curtis Ward of Clovis, Susan Cornwell of Citrus Heights, and Keith Ward of Newman, and grandchildren: Rex and Jacob Ward, Phillip Treibek-Westphal, Elizabeth, Rose, and Carolyn Westphal, Aaron and Kimber Ward, Amy,Justin,PJ,and Nate Cornwell, and Tiffany and Trevor Norlock. A private memorial is planned. Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Jo Johnson

Jo Johnson (Dodge, Horne) unexpectedly died on June 16th, 2009 at the age of 82 after a long, full life. Jo was born in East Orange, NJ on December 9th, 1926 as Mary Josephine Mesa. She went to New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill. After attending 2 years of college in Colorado Springs, she and her mother moved to CA. Jo lived in Palo Alto for more than 30 years, then moved to Morgan Hill where she lived since 1989.

Ermelindo M. Puente Sr.

Passed away at his home, Wednesday, June 17, 2009. He was the husband of Esperanza Puente of Gilroy, father of Estella Cantu of Louisiana, Gloria Sumisaki (Roy) of Gilroy, Ermelindo M. Puente Jr., (Mary Ann) of Gilroy, Joaquin Puente (Lupe) of Gilroy, Ralph Puente of San Martin, Genero Puente of San Diego, Robert Puente of Gilroy and Hope Pasqual (Eladio) of Milpitas. He was grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of many, as well as brother of Genaro, Joe, Isabell and Modesta.
