Tommie (Papa), 97 years old, passed from this life on June 1, 2009. He passed quietly, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his son-in-law, Paul Bell of Morgan Hill; his grandchildren, Terri and Roger York of Gilroy, Joan Calvillo (Drew) of New York; great grandchildren, Robert and Tatiana Lomas of Gilroy; Eric Lomas and Stephanie of Gilroy, Tommie Lomas also of Gilroy, Ryan Keith, Tina Keith (Cory), Noelani (Justin) and his great-great grandchildren, his pride and joy, Jayden Lomas, Brandon, Doynavon Keith, Audrey Ingrassia and Joshua. Tommie's family would like to give a special thanks to Cathey of VNA and Odyssey Hospice for their love and compassion. Visitation will be on Monday, June 8, 2009, from 9:00-11:00 A.M at Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will commence at 11:00 A.M., also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Memorial Park in Morgan Hill.
Charlie J. McDonough, 80, passed away on May 23, 2009 at his home in Gilroy. A native of Ft. Worth, TX, he had resided in Hollister and Gilroy for the past several years. He is survived by his wife Jane; daughters Shawn McDonough of Atlanta, GA and Susan Rousculp of Hollister and husband Gary; granddaughter Caitlin Rousculp and numerous nieces and nephews.
Diane was born on November 17, 1943 and passed away on May 31, 2009 at the age of 65. Survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Michael J. Pirnik. Loving mother and grandma of Carrie and her late husband Mario Faranoe, Jimmy (Michele) Stevie and Mikey Pirnik, Michelle (Tim) Michaela, Jeff and Chad Decker. Predeceased by her parents Max and Maude Samaduroff and sister, Linda Samaduroff. Loving aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many family members and friends.
Eddie, age 72, passed away on May 29, 2009 in Gilroy, CA. He was born in Texas on Nov. 29, 1936. He was the beloved husband of Anita Cervantes for 51 years. Loving father of Norma (Michael) Costa of Chowchilla, CA, Eddie (Susan) Cervantes, Jr. of Los Vegas, NV, Priscilla Wilkins of Houston, TX and the late Mario Cervantes. Devoted grandfather of Elaina & Erin Rivera, Jade & Jewel Cervantes and Joey Parham (Ana). Dearest great-grandfather of Xavier Parham. Survived by his brother Al Cervantes of San Jose, CA; two nieces Veronica Rodriguez of Morgan Hill and Antoinette Cervantes of San Jose.
Bob Ware, 88, of Auburn, CA died May 29th, 2009. Bob was born July 9, 1920 in Hibbing, MN, the son of the late Ward and Marie Ware.He was one of three boys and husband to Lena Katherine Crowley for 63 years. He graduated from Santa Clara High School in June 1939 and worked as a welder in a shipyard during the beginning of World War II whereupon he subsequently served three-and-a-half years in the Army before being honorably discharged in the spring of 1946. His retail store "The Importer" in Santa Clara, CA thrived for 25 years. He was a born salesman throughout his career vending pumps, milking machines, dairy feed, pizza, chinchillas, and finally, imported goods. Associated with his international business activities, he journeyed to the Philippines, Africa, Japan, China, and Taiwan. Bob married Lena on March 17th, 1946 at St. Bernadine Catholic Church in San Bernardino.Together in their married, life they moved 21 times finally settling to raise their family in the Morgan Hill area. They retired to Portola, CA in 1989 and then moved to Auburn in 1997. In his retirement Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, and card playing with his many friends and neighbors. He is survived by his wife, Lena, and their six children and spouses: Dennis and Mariann Ware; Paul and Priscila Ware; Mike Ware; Gordon and Cindy Ware; Kathy and Tim Sugishita; Kelly and Marc Hassell-Cramer, and their families, comprising 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Betty Ware of Napa; and,cousin, Jean Henry of Auburn. Services to be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 11600 Atwood Road, Auburn, CA 95603 at 11:00 A.M. Reception immediately following in the parish hall. A military internment will be held on Monday June 8th, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetary, 32053 West McCabe Road., Santa Nella, CA 95322.
Patricia Catherine Ferreira born and raised in Gilroy CA, died at age 63 of cancer. Patricia is survived by her son Antonio Edward Ferreira and her daughters Ann Marie Gutto and Theresa Webb-Harding. Patricia was also lovingly known as Ms. Pat and this is what one of her fellow teacher and friend has written in her honor.
Robert Hopkins passed away in Maui, HI at the age of 52. He and his wife, Kathy, honeymooned in Maui and returned to celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary in a place they loved. Robert was born in San Jose, CA and had lived in Hollister since 1989. His two children were his pride and joy. Robert loved fishing, camping and working in his garden, not to mention the game of baseball. He loved everything about the sport and was involved in every aspect, from following the Atlanta Braves, serving on the Board of Hollister Little League and Babe Ruth, coaching at every level along the way, and mostly being an avid fan at his son's games.
