Richard L. Edvenson

Richard L. Edvenson passed away at his Hollister home at the age of 83. He was born in Webster City, IA and came to Hollister in 1954 from Redwood City. He married his wife, Gertrude, in 1947 in San Francisco, was a member of Mound Lodge #166 IOOF since 1974 where he served as past vice Noble Grand and was a trustee of the lodge and the IOOF Cemetery. He served in the 101st Army Airborne Paratroopers unit in WWII, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Medal for bravery. He then served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. Dick had a deep appreciation for his country and fellow veterans. He was dedicated to placing American flags at the gravesites of Hollister's fallen veterans on all patriotic holidays. He was a partner in the former Holex Explosives Company, a life member of the American Legion and a member of VFW Post 9242.

Philip Keith Clark

Philip K. Clark passed away in Pope Valley, CA at the age of 64. He was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Sentinel and Stillwater. He came to California as a teen and lived in Hollister for the past 12 years moving here from Salinas. He married his wife, Laura, in 1990 in Carmel, CA and liked to fish, read, play the stock market and was involved in the ministry and Bible Study at Grace Bible Church. He had a deep love for his native Oklahoma. He is a graduate of California State University-East Bay in Hayward and taught Economics and US History at San Benito High School. He served his country honorably in the US Army.

Serapio (Frank) Salinas Jr.

Serapio "Frank" Salinas Jr., 65 of Hollister, CA, following a short illness, died peacefully at his home on Sunday May 17, 2009. He was surrounded by his family who will miss him dearly. He was born on June 27, 1943 in Big Spring, TX. He was a Tractor Driver/Foreman for Goldsmith Seeds Inc. in Gilroy, CA. for 25 years.

Donald Stephen Bellezza

Donald Stephen Bellezza passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, Mother's Day at Oak Park Convalescent Home in Pleasant Hill, CA. Don spent his teen years in Gilroy and was a long time resident of Walnut Creek.

Dolores Sepeda

Dolores Sepeda, long time resident of San Martin, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at her home after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Cigan (Dennis) of Gilroy, her grandchildren, Paul Cigan (Terri) of Springfield, VA, Claire Thome (Phil) and Ann Fitzsimmons (Mark) also residents of Gilroy. She is the great-grandmother of Claudia Cigan, Madeleine Cigan and Candace Cigan, all of Sprinfield, VA.

Joyce Rolen McCandless

Joyce was born to Earl and Velma Rolen in LeMoore. CA. Raised in Gilroy, CA she attended Gilroy schools, graduated from Gilroy High School and attended Hartnell College. She married George McCandless in October of 1947, settled in Gilroy and raised 3 sons. They later moved to Aptos, where she worked as a dental assistant.

Charlotte G. Magallanes

Beloved mother and grandmother. Visitation will be at the mortuary Thursday, May 21st. from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 P.M.

Israel Chapa, Jr.

Israel Chapa passed away peacefully on Saturday May 9, 2009, at the age of 47. Son of Israel and Guadalupe Chapa, he was born in Fresno, CA, father of Israel III, Adrian, Isaac and Alex Chapa, brother to Lorenzo and Carlos Chapa, grandfather to two beautiful girls with one on the way. He is also survived by one niece and seven nephews. Isreal was loved very much and he was a child of God. When you see a street person, please be kind to them. You will be blessed by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
