Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Ditmore

Mary Elizabeth, known as Betty by all who knew and loved her, passed in her sleep early Saturday morning March 28, 2009 at the age of 86. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and cherished friend to many.

Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Wilson Woolpert

Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Wilson Woolpert has died at the age of 82 years. Surrounded by family members, they report that she died peacefully at her home in Watsonville, CA on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. For most of the last decade, she had been living with emphysema and cancer.

Gloria M. Horner

Gloria M. Horner peacefully passed away on Tuesday March 31st, 2009 in Gilroy, CA. Gloria was born August 6th, 1920 in Pittsburg, CA, to her parents Salvador and Rose Giuffreda. Gloria was raised in the East Bay and in San Francisco where she graduated from Mt. St. Joseph's Catholic High School. Gloria came to Gilroy in 1958 with her late husband Lee Horner and 3 children.

Leonard E. (Walt) Waltemeyer

"Walt" passed at the age of 78,in Las Vegas,NV. Walt retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sargent in 1968. Then joined the Gilroy PD in 1968 as a patrol officer, later to become a detective until his retirement in 1980, where he left life-long friends to retire to Magalia, CA. Bored with retirement, he became a campus police officer for Butte College. Walt moved to Las Vegas in 1996 to be near his surviving family members, Kevin and Keith Waltemeyer and Kyle Lairmore. He was a proud grandfather to Aaron and Wendy of Portland, OR. Chase, Cameron and Aric Of Las Vegas, NV. He also became a member of the Church of Las Vegas where he was Baptized. Services will be held at the Church of Las Vegas April 11th at 4:00 P.M. 3388 S. Decatur Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charities.

Fulton Jaklevick

Age 66, of Morgan Hill. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. with a funeral service to commence at 3:00 P.M., both at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey street in Morgan Hill. Interment will be private.

Carla Ophelia Page Jimenez

It is with great sadness that we announce Carla Ophelia Page Jimenez passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009. Born and raised in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area, she is survived by her two beautiful daughters and joys of her life, Jamie and Bobbie, her mother and father, Carl and Ophelia Page, her younger brother, Bryant, and her nephew and nieces, Carl IV, Carlisa, and Amanda. She was preceded by her loving older brother, Carl Page III. She will be sorely missed by her family and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A memorial will be held for her at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth St. in Gilroy on Friday, April 3, 2009 between 5:00 P.M - 8:00 P.M.

Helen Idah Moore

Helen Idah Moore was born in Biggs, CA on October 4, 1920. She passed away on March 28, 2009 in Tacoma, WA. Helen graduated from Napa High School at the age of 16. She was accepted to the University of California in Berkeley but her dad felt she was too young to attend, so she went to Business College in Napa, CA and became a legal secretary at the age of 17. Helen married Sam Moore on October 13th, 1939 in Napa, CA and in the summer of 1947, they moved their young family to Morgan Hill. Helen worked as a bookkeeper for Roberts Department Store, Edes Hardware, Squeri Brothers Hardware, and local dentist, Dr. Day. An amazing cook, she worked at the Palm Grill, the Jolly Inn, and Shipley's Restaurant. The Moores and good friend, Alma Schultz, owned the Cozy Cafe; a truck stop about four miles north of town, where Helen made her famous homemade pies. Sam and Helen were members of Morgan Hill First Assembly of God Church for many years before moving to Washington. Helen is survived by her husband of 69 years, Sam Moore of Tacoma, WA, son Rod Moore of Federal Way, WA, daughter Sue Carlton of Tacoma, WA, son Ken Moore of Lebanon, OR, nine grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Harry F. Skibbins

Harry F. Skibbins passed away Tuesday afternoon at the age of 85 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital. Born in Chicago, Illinois, having lived in California for the past 40 years. Harry had been a sales manager for Prudential Insurance for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a radio operator on a B24 in the South Pacific.

Linda Sue Harvey Securda

Born July 1, 1939, beloved wife of Kerrick C. Securda, was preceded in death by him August 2008, and was the daughter of Dorothy & John E. Harvey, Dixon, IL., also deceased. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Joan Stafford, Corinne McCoy, Sandra Harvey, Diane Gildemeister, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Linda will be fondly remembered for her convivial personality, and wide range of interests.
