Joan Sexton

Joan Sexton, 61, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away in her home on Feb.3, 2008. She was born May 2, 1946,in Broken Bow, OK. She was a member of the Old Town Cruisers Car Club for 16 years and Sunnyside Assembly of God. She is preceded in death by son Brent Sexton. She is survived by her husband, David Sexton of Van Buren, Ark.; two sons, Eddie and wife Pam of Hollister, David Jr and wife Susie of Van Buren Ark. And One daughter Jeannia Bocanegra of Hollister; two sisters, Barbara Cosio and Sue Townsend both of Hollister. Nine grandchildren, Kyle, Wayde, Tanner, Allison Sexton all of Hollister,Donnie, DJ Bocanegra, Isaiah Sexton of Hollister and Dylan, Hayden Sexton of Van Buren Ark. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 1:00pm at Calvary Cemetery 1100 Hillcrest Road, Hollister, Califronia

Teresa F. Valdez passed away in San Jose on March 4, 2008. She was 75.

Josefina Corina Perez Muniz

Corina passed away Saturday in her home, in the tender care of her family. She lived in Gilroy, CA for 25 years and for the past 17 years in Modesto, CA. She was preceded by her parents, Guadalupe and Josefina Perez from Mission, TX and son Raul Muniz, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 yrs., Raul Muniz, Sr; 6 children Mary Muniz and Bob of Santa Nella, Ruben, Sr. and Susie Muniz of Gilroy, Alfredo and JoAnn Muniz of Gilroy, Phillip Muniz, Sr. and Virgie of Los Banos, Abel Muniz of Modesto and Roy Muniz, Sr. of Modesto; 4 grandchildren she raised, Henry Gallegos, Corina, Monique and Ruben Jr. Muniz all of Modesto. She has 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and 6 sisters and 4 brothers all from Texas.

Gary Michael Jaszewski, age 60 passed away peacefully at his home in Los Gatos surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, March 2, 2008.

Barbara Lee (Rianda) Zamzow

Barbara Lee (Rianda) Zamzow passed away at her home on March 4, 2008, at the age of 73. She is survived by her children, James (Dixie) Zamzow of Hollister, Nancy (John) Bozzo of Gilroy and Carol (John) Johnston of Smith Valley, Nevada, grandmother of Annie and Erick Zamzow, Matt and Catie Bozzo and Jessica Johnston, sister-in-law Lois Presba, cousins, Christine Flautt, Sharon Pappani and Ernie Pavese. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many beloved friends. Preceded in death by her Husband Norman Zamzow and her parents Roy and Josephine Rianda. she was a native of Gilroy. Mrs. Zamzow graduated from Gilroy High School then attended Hartnell College in Salinas. She was a longtime 4-H member and leader, a member of the Honor Society, WITS and St. Mary Church. She enjoyed traveling, cross stitch, and lived for her children and her beautiful grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March 8, 2008 11:00A.M. at St. Mary Church, in Gilroy. Burial will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, in Gilroy. Donations in her memory to a favorite charity are preferred and appreciated.

Marjorie Marsano

Marjorie Marsano died on March 1, 2008, at Dominican Hospital. She was 89. Marjorie was born in San Francisco and raised in the Hall District of Watsonville, the middle of 7 brothers and sisters. She attended Salinas High School and then moved to Watsonville. Marjorie was active with Notre Dame Mother's Club and Italian Catholic Federation. As her children and grandchildren were growing up, she attended many of their sporting activities. She loved watching the Oakland A's with her husband and playing blackjack in Lake Tahoe with her family. She leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda (Joe) Daughenbaugh of Hollister and Barbara (Chris) Giovannoni of Watsonville; three granddaughters Jennifer Daughenbaugh of San Juan Bautista, Erin (Robbie Allen) Daughenbaugh of San Francisco, and Gina Giovannoni of Watsonville; two great-granddaughters, Carly Daughenbaugh-Johnson and Abbie Giovannoni; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 10, 2008 11:00A.M. at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Watsonville. Burial will follow ay Watsonville Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before mass at Mehl's Colonial Chapel. Floral tributes are welcome or donations to Bay School, 5400 Soquel Ave., Santa Cruz, CA 95062, where her great-grandchildren attend.

Charlotte G. Brinegar

Charlotte G. Brinegar passed away peacefully in San Jose, CA. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas, from Morgan Hill, (they were married for 63 years), 4 children - Janis, (John), Mary, (Frank), Richard, (Irene), Sheila, (Glenn), 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Donald L. Paquin

Donald Paquin, devoted father and granddad, passed away in the arms of his daughter in Salinas, CA after a long and heroic battle with cancer. Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, "Chickie", of 49 years in 2005. Don leaves behind his devoted daughter Debbie Thul; son-in-law Greg Thul; grandchildren, Donny Thul and Kari Thul; and nephew Patrick Hill. Don was born in Superior, WI , and he lived a very colorful life. Don joined the Merchant Marines in September of 1943 at the age of 16. When they found out how old he was, they gave him an honorable discharge. He loved baseball and was given a full ride scholarship to Penn State to play baseball but he gave it up to play AAA ball for the Kansas City Blues and then the New York Yankees. He played baseball with such greats as Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and Mickey Mantle. In 1962, he was the Bay Area Correspondent and Vice Chairman for Governor Pat Brown. Don was a pilot and received his pilot's license in 1966. He loved flying his single engine plane, especially to Lake Tahoe. Don was a self-made man and he owned his own First Aid Company for 35 years. He sold the company and retired at the age of 70, then stayed employed as a consultant for 5 more years. Don raced dirt bikes and he loved fishing and camping. He loved everything about nature. He loved to cook and also eat good food. Donald moved to Hollister to be with his daughter and family in 2005 after the death of his cherished wife. He was deeply devoted to his family. Don loved spending time with his grandchildren. Hel was very proud of them. Don loved Tres Pinos School, the staff and children. He spent what time he could in the staff lunchroom entertaining everyone with his stories and humor. His son-in-law Greg took very good care of him during the day while his daughter worked. Donald was adored by his daughter Debbie and grandchildren, Donny and Kari. He will be deeply missed.

Dora Gutierrez Rios passed away Feb. 29, 2008. A visitation will be held from 1 P.M. Wednesday, March 5 at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Thursday, March 6, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1575 Mantelli Dr. Gilroy. Burial to follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
