Michael John Mello Sr.

Michael Mello Sr. was the hero of his son, Michael Jr. Mike passed away peacefully on February 21, 2008 at the age of 51. Mike was the loving son of Ray and Dolores Mello and the loving brother of Dennis (Nancy) Mello and Robert (Giselle) Mello. Mike was loved and cared for by Heidi Mello and Leslie Dartt. Mike was adored by his nieces and nephews and his large extended family. Mike was also loved by his many friends. We all suffered a great loss on February 21st. For those that knew him, they have been blessed with his smile and for those that didn't know him, you would have wished you had! We will miss you Mike, Rest now in peace.

James R. Dobbs

James R. Dobbs entered into rest in Hollister at the age of 77. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas and lived in the Salinas area for many years, moving to Hollister two years ago. He was a retail clerk for many years and past president of his local union where he became the business agent for many years. He married his wife, Joice Dobbs, in 1957 in Salinas and served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In the Air Force he was an interpreter in the Russian language and was a member of The First Baptist Church in Prunedale and a past member of the IOOF Lodge in Pacific Grove.

Richard (Dick) E. Madison

Richard "Dick" Madison of Morgan Hill, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2008, at the age of 78. Survived by his wife, Kathryn and his children, Debbie (Myron) Leisted, Rick and Dan; three nieces and many friends. Services are pending in Wisconsin. Family requests that donations be made in Dick's memory to the charity of your choice.

Eugene Martin Klauer

Eugene Martin Klauer, age 70, passed away in Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento of a sudden illness. Eugene was born in Hollister on September 28, 1937 and attended local schools. He received a bachelor degree from Cal Poly in Aeronautical Engineering and a Masters Degree from Cal State Long Beach. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. His employment was with North American Rockwell and Martin Murietta. He enjoyed airplanes, racing events, gardening and reading.

Francita V. Vasquez

On February 13, 2008, Francita Vasquez Gonzalez, was called home by our Father. She was the loving wife of Theodore Gonzales, mother of her beloved animals, sister of Eleanor Nash, Angie Campa, Leon Vasquez, Gilbert Vasquez, Jesse Hernandez, and the dear departed Maria Correa. Although, she struggled with a lifetime illness of rheumatoid arthritis, she continued to touch the hearts of all whom crossed her path. Without question, she embraced everyone with open arms, hospitality, charitable gifts and generosity. Her smile and her strength enlightened our souls. Her perseverance, honesty, and kindness, was a mirror image of her gentle character and most importantly her heart. She was a woman who loved a special kind of love. She loved not like most, but mostly like GOD. She Loved Unconditionally, and we were fortunate to have her with us for so long. May she Rest in a land of Peace throughout eternity. God knows she earned it.

Kathleen S. Clark

A former Gilroy resident, Kathleen passed away in Tulsa, OK. ?She was born in Kansas City, MO, and she moved to California in the mid 1940's. She then lived in Oregon and Missouri before returning to Gilroy in 1993. She moved to Bartlesville, OK in 2000.

Anna Mikkelsen

Anna was born in North Dakota to Swain and Kristbjorg Thorwaldson of Iceland. At the age of three her family traveled to California and settled in Exeter, where she grew up. She was married in 1945 to Osvald Mikkelsen and they lived in San Jose, Saratoga and Gilroy. She was a skillful homemaker for 63 years. Activities and hobbies included: the Danish Lodge, bridge, crocheting, piano, and, in her later years, attending the senior center lincheons and activities in Morgan Hill. She passed away peacefully on February 18th of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Osvald, in March of last year. She is dearly loved and survived by her sons, Greg and Eric Mikkelsen; daughter, Ingrid (Jeff) Goodere and daughter-in-law, Carol Mikkelsen, grandmother of Tyler, Spencer, Justin, Kendra and Lindsay Goodere, and Evan Mikkelsenk, great-grandmother of Jeffrey and Aubrey Goodere.

Maria Del Refugio DeLeon

Passed away in Hollister at the age of 83. Committal services will be held on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister. Friends can meet at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home for a procession to the cemetery at 2:30 P.M.

Ray ( Blackie) Escudero

Ray (Blackie) Escudero, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at home battling cancer. He worked for San Martin Transfer Station.
