Richard "Dave" Biggs passed away February 2, 2008, after an almost year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. A long-time resident of Gilroy, Dave worked for PG&E for 30 years, volunteered for the Gilroy Fire Department, and most recently volunteered with Kaiser Hospital in Gilroy. Dave was an avid garage sale and flea market enthusiast, and enjoyed spending his weekends searching for the "perfect" bargain.
Joe Picchetti passed away Monday evening at the Mabie Southside Skilled Nursing facility in Hollister . He was 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Pratini Picchetti, older brothers, Aldo and Elio Picchetti and his brother-in-law, Hank Tedesco. Joe is survived by his wife, Wanda of Hollister, sister, Irene Tedesco and her three children, Steve, Patty and Ron Tedesco, and his sister-in-law, Tish Picchetti. and her two children John Picchetti and Mary Taylor. He also leaves behind, his cousin , Hector Picchetti , of Monta Vista, and his two children, Nita Albrechit and Mike Picchetti and their families. He lost his cousin Mario Picchetti, over a year ago. Mario's surviving wife, Jere, resides in Hollister. Her two children are Antone and Debbie. Joe moved to Hollister along with his cousin, Mario, and purchased "The Villa Pace" restaurant in 1950. Joe and Mario were owner/operators and sold the business 15 years later.
Kenneth Francis Peer, Sr. died Sunday at the age of 85. He was a native of Aurora, Nebraska, moving to Hollister nearly 40 years ago. He was a WWII Marine Corp. veteran and worked as a General Motors Mechanic most of his life. Kenneth loved camping and traveling with his R.V. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn R. Peer of Hollister, daughter, Leanna Christensen of Fresno and a son, Kenneth Peer, Jr., wife, LaVerna of Hollister, grandfather of Cynthia Lovelace, Tria Nogo, Clay, Katie and Natalie Peer. Also survived by one great grandson, Cole Nogo.
**?**6dssed away at the age of 78 in San Jose, CA. He loved his family unconditionally. He is survived by his sons, Peter(Kalina), Steve Mark (Tammy ) and his daughter, Melanie (Glenn). He also leaves his brothers, Dino (Antionette), Tony (Irene) and his sister, Athena (Nick) and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Margaret and his sister, Helen. He also leaves his precious grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Haugen, who could make his eyes light up by saying, "Hi, Papou." He was also always Grandpa Steve to Nicole La Jeunesse and Jeffrey Belcher.
Kaulana passed away January 30 in Las Vegas, NV. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1P.M. followed by a vigil service at 7 P.M. both at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 A.M. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
Betty LaRae Felton, age 84, of Cannon Falls, MN, former 20 year resident of Morgan Hill, died in Cannon Falls. Betty was born in Minneapolis, MN, to Anthony and Lillian (Johnson) Kostakos. She graduated from Edison H.S. in NE Minneapolis, and later attended Minneapolis Business School. She worked for Northrup King, managing the addressograph department. She married Harold C. Felton on July 27, 1946 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Betty held numerous jobs during Harold's employment with IBM, including Josten's in Owatonna, MN and in state government in Juneau, Alaska. Harold was on the "Bridge" (now Community Solutions) board of directors from 1988-1997. Betty was involved in women's groups at the Lutheran churches they attended. In 1995, their lives changed as Betty was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by husband, Harold; and brother, Richard Anthony of Salano Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brother, Marion Smith, Ronald Anthony, DeEtta Rogers, and Evanthia Hardy. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 2 pm at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Randolph, MN. Spring interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Randolph. William (Bill) Tykol passed away peacefully on February 2, 2008, at age 88, in Morgan Hill, California. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years of marriage, Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy (Mrs. David Brown), and leaves sons, Tom and David; grandchildren, JW, Debbie, Jessica, Justin and Andrew; great-granddaughter Jordan, and loving nieces and nephews. Born in Chicago in 1919, Bill ended up in San Martin, California, graduating from Live Oak High School in 1937. He married in 1942 and served as Army Tech Sergeant in WWII. He owned the trusted Chevron service station on First Street in Morgan Hill for 22 years and was a bailiff in the Santa Clara County court system for 15, until 1984. An active member of his community, Bill was a charter member of the Morgan Hill Rotary Club, Man of the Year in 1969, a member of the Morgan Hill Police Reserve and, more recently, an Elder at Morgan Hill Bible Church. He volunteered to help wherever he could, the first arrive and the last to leave. He proudly shared his love of rock collecting with many grade school classes, and will be remembered for his honest nature and sense of humor.
Agnes Dolores Perry passed away Friday evening at the age of 91 at the St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy. Agnes was born and raised in San Jose, having lived in Los Banos for many years prior to moving to San Benito County in 1966. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos and associate member of the Immaculate Conception Church Alter Society, member of the S.D.E.S Lodge and the I.C.F., both of Hollister. Agnes was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, along with being very fond of her cat. Along with being an avid shopper, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, dining out and traveling with family and friends. Agnes is survived by her husband, Albert J. Perry of Hollister, son, Kenneth A. Perry, wife, Annette, of Hollister, daughter, Phyllis Lanini, husband, Ray, of Hollister and brother, John Ramos of San Jose. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Kevin Perry and Mickey Perry, both of Hollister, Lisa Silacci of Salinas, Geof Lanini of Hollister, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
