Carl Daniel Hughes, 40, loving father, devoted husband, and respected community leader passed away Monday, January 28, 2008. Carl leaves behind a grieving wife, Linda Fedalizo-Hughes; son, KyVon Luis Fedalizo Hughes; and daughter, Myka Zhane Fedalizo Hughes. He is also survived by his father, Arthur Hughes; mother, Helen Hughes; three older brothers: Ted Hughes, Eugene Hughes, and Kenneth Hughes; and older sister Mona Thompson. Carl will be truly missed by his extended family and wide circle of friends whose lives he touched.
David, beloved son and brother, passed away at his Sunnyvale home on January 27, 2008. He is survived by his sister, Zena (Bret) Hollingsworth of Morgan Hill; brother, Eric Wojcieszak of San Jose and his nephew, Bret Jr. of Morgan Hill. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Gloria Mullings passed away January 29, 2008, at her home, surrounded by family. Gloria was born and raised in Gilroy and is survived by: son Fred (Pam) Thrasher, Marilyn ( Greg) Guerin, Teeny (Frank) Pacheco, step-children Julie (Pat) Tuttle, Cindy (Steve) VanHorn, and Sam Mullings, sister Barbara Drewitz, sister-in-law Gloria Rizzi and brother-in-law Jim Duley. Gloria had fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Pete and Mary Rizzi, her husbands, Dick Thrasher and Bill Mullings, and by siblings, Erminia Dresti, John Rizzi, Julian Rizzi, Vic Rizzi, Albert Rizzi, Pete Rizzi and Margaret Daley. Gloria retired from the City of Gilroy, where she worked as a Purchasing Agent, in 1989. She was named Employee of the Year in 1987. Gloria was an avid bridge player. She loved cooking, and her home was always open to family and friends. Trips to Reno and Chukchansi were a highlight of her retirement. Wherever she went, Gloria made a friend of everyone she met. Visitation will be held Friday, February 1, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008, 1:00 P.M. at the family home. William J. Caprista, age 84 years, entered into rest of his home in Morgan Hill, CA, January 25, 2008. Bill is survived by the mother of his children, Teresa Caprista. He was the beloved father of Frank Caprista, Bill Caprista (Kerry) and Tena Knea (Tim), devoted grandfather of Kyle, Cory, Tessa, Cassidy and Keenan, and brother of Ann Bailey. Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Frank Caprista.
Zerl Dean Manship of Hollister entered into peace and rest on Jan. 26th, 2008. Affectionately known as Mom, Nan and Zee. She was the loving mother of Linda Sue Sanders of the state of Washington and Arlene Martin of Hollister. Also survived by son-in-law Robert Martin of Hollister; grandchildren; Clifton Sanders, Jennifer Tipp, Andrea, Harvey, and Bobby Martin; great-grandchildren; Steven, Michael, Brehanna, Kaleb and Katie; a brother James Kilcrease; a sister Sue Cantrell and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Manship, in l981. She lived in Watsonville for many years, moving to Hollister in 1992. She worked for many years for Albertson's at the Capitola, Freedom, and Santa Cruz stores. She was a past member of All Saints' Episcopal Church of Watsonville and the VFW Women's Auxiliary.
Victoria Margarita Spohr, born January 1, 1911, in San Mateo, CA, to Emma and Victor Reyen, died peacefully in her Garden Valley home on January 18, 2008. She was a devoted homemaker and mother to six children; Robin Spohr, (Harriet), David Spohr, (Maria Luiza), Margaret Buyas, (Jerry), Marilyn Gustas, (Jim), Eric Spohr, (deceased), and Christine Danmaker, (Ralph), grandmother to 21 grandchildren, great-grandmother to 41 and great-great-grandmother to 4.
