Albert Calpito

Albert Calpito was called home in the presence of his family after a 4 month battle with lung and brain cancer. Albert was a retired U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran and 23 years with the United States Postal Service. He was born in the Philippines. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicanor and Bernarda Calpito, and eldest brother Romualdo Romis. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Calpito of 22 years, his children Rodney and daughter-in-law, Fretzel Calpito, Jasmine Calpito, Albert Jr. Calpito, Derek Calpito, Darius Calpito; his brother, Rogelio Calpito;and his granddaughters, Sjannah and Hailley Calpito.We will miss you.

Rosalinda Duran

Rosalinda Duran passed away December 4, 2007. A visitation will begin 11 am Monday at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be said 1 pm Monday afternoon at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Willie Mae Doughty Brindle

Willie Mae Doughty Brindle passed away November 17, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husbands Manuel Doughty and Lewis Brindle; survived by her sons Neland (Ardean) Doughty of Burney, CA and Kenneth (Anita) Doughty of Cottonwood, CA; daughter Dolores (Mel) Brown of FL; stepchildren; Shirley (Arnold) Togliatti, Richard (Marie) Brindle, Donald (Suzanne) Brindle, and Marian Brindle. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Mellie Grace Boyce

Mellie Boyce, 75, passed on to our Lord Monday evening at her home in San Jose, California. She was surrounded by her daughters, sisters and brothers-in-law. Mellie is survived by her daughters; Vivian Holmes, Barbara Glaspy, Debra Heilman and Diane Baty; her sons-in-law; David Holmes, David Glaspy, Kevin Heilman, and Jim Baty; her sisters; Anna Hayes, Betty Stiers, Joyce Daily and her brothers-in-law; Mackinley Stiers and Bill Daily, her 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Robert C. Zuniga

Robert C. Zuniga passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 27, after battling cancer for the last couple of years. Robert was 67 years old. A long time resident of Morgan Hill, Robert was born on October 26, 1940 in Glendale, Arizona and grew up in Gilroy, California. He attended Gilroy High School. Always a hard worker, Robert had many jobs over the years. He worked forf Aristocrat in Morgan Hill. For five years, Robert worked for Stephens and Poletti as an EMT. He eventually retired from the VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) after 27 years working as a bus driver and facilities maintenance worker. For many years, Robert was a volunteer firefighter for Morgan Hill. When the Morgan Hill Fire Department was primarily volunteer, Robert was fire captain. In 1971, he was volunteer firefighter of the year.

Barbara E. Brant

Barbara Brant, age 70, passed on at her home in Morgan Hill on the morning of November 17, 2007. She is a long time resident of the San Jose and Morgan Hill area and is survived by her loving husband of 49-½ years, Archie L. Brant, Sr., 5 children, 14 grand children and 14 great-grand-children.

Louise Weydell

Louise Weydell, 72, of Salinas, passed away on November 14, 2007 from lung cancer and peripheral vascular disease. She was born Myrtle Louise Powell on March 5, 1935, in Comanche, Oklahoma, a descendant of the earliest European pioneers in America and a direct descendant of Hannah Cole (1762-1843), the pioneer mother of Missouri. She was related to Daniel Boone, and her great-great- grandmother and uncles were portrayed in the John Wayne movie, "The Sons of Katie Elder."

Ramiro S. Salgado

Ramiro S. Salgado passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Father of Ofelia Pequeno, Raul Salgado, Patty Granados, Mike Salgado and the late Ernest Salgado. Son of the late Luciano & Ruth Salgado. Grandfather and Great-grandfather of many including the late Frank Tomasetti. Brother of Rudy & Pat Salgado of Gilroy, Isabel & Danny Lanzano of San Jose and Rosie Perez of Santa Paula, CA and the late Cuco Salgado and his wife Julia & Raymond Salgado. Brother-in-law of Jennie Salgado and the late Tony Perez. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Deborah Goodwin-Carlos

Deborah Goodwin Carlos, died Nov 25, 2007, in Gilroy at the age of 59 after a long illness. She was the youngest daughter of Don and Dorothy Byers Goodwin. She graduated from Gilroy High School and went on to Gavilan College. She participated in Gilroy community life for many years and was very interested in it's history. As a child she participated in the Gilroy Gymkana and Bonanza Days parades with her family. She also took joy in being with her father during his years as the Gilroy Eagle's Band Director.
