Ofelia Chavez Rodriguez

Entered into rest in Gilroy, CA. Visitation: Friday, Nov. 16th from 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Rosary and Mass: Friday, 7:00 PM at St. Mary's Church in Gilroy. Interment will be in El Salvador, Jalisco, Mexico.

Raymond Diaz

Raymond Diaz entered into rest on November 11 ,2007. He was well known and loved by many of you that knew him. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years Hope G. Diaz. A brother Claro Herrera and two sisters Augustina Herrera & Felice Herrera all of Mexico. His beloved children Roman Diaz of EI Paso, Humberto Diaz of Gilroy, Rene Diaz of Houston, and Yolanda Diaz of Gilroy, deceased daughter Mary Rios and step-children Daniel Escanuelas and deceased Angie Gracia. He also leaves 28 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Dagoberto R. Lopez

Dagoberto Lopez passed away on November 6th at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Guerrero Viejo, Mexico, he moved to Laredo, Texas, at the age of 8. It is there that he met his wife of 43 years, Oralia Garza. They moved to Gilroy in 1964 and have been here ever since. He retired from Gilroy Foods in 2002.

Morris F. Turner

Morris F. Turner passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 78 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital. He was born in Kerman, California, and lived in San Benito County all his life. He was a graduate of San Benito High school and served in the U.S. Navy. Morris was formerly owner and operator of the Turner Machine Shop in Hollister for 35 years. He was a member of the U.B.E. (Spanish Lodge) of Hollister.

Antonia Salcido

Antonia Salcido passed away in San Jose, Monday at the age of 74. Born in Madera, California, having moved to Hollister 50 years ago. Along with being a homemaker she had been a nurse's aid at the local convalescent hospitals for 30 years. Member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Guadalupana Society of Hollister. Antonia was the wife of the late Joe "Blackie" Salcido, who died in 2000. She is survived by her children, Marlene Salcido-Gabriele, Sylvester, Freddie and Robert Salcido all of Hollister. Sister of Maggie Urbano, Irene Rodriquez, Raul Rodriguez and Katie Martinez all of Madera. Also survived by 12 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild and several Nieces and Nephews.

Georgia Reece

Georgia Reece, resident of Mabie Northside Nursing Facility, passed away Saturday at the age of 92. She was the mother of Fannie Jo Lndley and grandmother of Val Garioto of Hollister.

Yoshiko Tamura Kamimoto

Yoshiko Tamura Kamimoto passed away last Thursday at her home in San Juan Bautista at the age of 89. Yoshiko was born in San Francisco, CA, coming to San Juan Bautista in 1955, after her marriage in San Jose. She was the daughter of Torakichi Tamura and Riki Tanigawa. Yoshiko was the wife of the late Kay Kunijo Kamimoto, who died in 1995. She is survived by her children, David Ross Kamimoto of Campbell, Norman Wayne Kamimoto and wife Barbara Jean Landolt of San Francisco, and Howard Bruce Kamimoto of San Juan Bautista, her grandsons; Matthew Kyle Kamimoto and Nicholas Ryan Kamimoto, both of San Francisco, and her siblings, Kimiko Yamaguma and husband Joe of Foster City, her late siblings Masako Minami and husband George, Chiyoko Tamura, and Minoru Tamura and wife Ruth. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bernarda C. Garcia

Bernarda C. Garcia was born in Nuevo Leon Monterrey, Mexico, to Jose and Santos Carrillo on March 12, 1938. She went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2007 in Perris, California. She was a beautiful woman of many talents. Bernarda was an active member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Lakeview, California. Her church, family and friends were very near and dear to her heart. For the past 12 years she dedicated her life to Christ and to the church ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Teodoro F. Garcia. She leaves to cherish her memory, 3 sons, Ted Garcia, George Garcia, and Johnny Garcia; 3 daughters, Irene Garcia, Elia Trevino, and Ofelia Castillo; 4 brothers, Lucio Carrillo, Modesto Carrillo, Meno Carrillo, and Ruben Carrillo; 3 sisters, Ernestina Juarez, Sofia Sanchez and Rosa Aguilar; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

David Carlos Vilchis

David Carlos Vilchis was born and raised in Gilroy. He graduated from Gilroy High School. He married his wife Pam in 1980. David played softball for Gilroy leagues for many years.

Maria Luisa Cordova Aguilera

Maria Luisa Cordova Aguilera, born August 15, 1913, in Sonora, Mexico, died on November 10, 2007, in San Jose, California at the age of 94. She moved to Gilroy, California in 1942. She worked in the local farms driving tractors and the Gilroy Cannery till retirement. She is survived by her children, Teresa A. Villasana, Tony C. Aguilera (Lupe), Cayetano "Aggie" Aguilera (Nena), Rachel Lafuente (Lui), Mary Elsie Lafuente (Gonzalo). She had 23 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Cayetano of 65 years, and two children Pete Aguilera and Mary Lou Lafuente, and several grandchildren. She loved cooking for all her family, gardening, music, singing and dancing. She was a Cursillista, a member of the Guadalupana Society and St Mary's Church. We are all better people because of our loving mother and the best part of her will live in all our hearts forever.
