Carol Ann Sasso-Carlson passed away September 26, 2007 in Gilroy. She is survived by her husband Harry Carlson of Gilroy, sister of Elaine Wolters and husband Ted of Anderson, CA and John Sasso and wife Jean of Monte Rio, CA, aunt of Randy Bratton and wife Lisa of Sebastopol, CA, great-aunt of Peyton Bratton of Sebastopol.

Jose Carmen Soto, 73, passed away at St. Louise Hospital, Sunday, September 23, 2007. He was the husband of Juana Soto of Gilroy, father of Eudulia "Lulu" Ramirez (Arturo) of San Jose, Fernando Soto (Ester) of Salinas, Francisco "Frank" Soto of Hollister, Maria Del Carmen Soto of Gilroy, Mike Soto (Beatrice) of Hollister, Jose Soto Jr. (Yvette) of Gilroy, Jesse Soto of Gilroy, grandfather of Allegra, Analiza, Cassandra, Robert, Alex, Erica, Adriana, Jaclyn, Mike Jr., Steven, Vanessa, Julian, Adrian and Jose III. A native of Bolanos, Jalisco, Mexico.

Reverend William Neil Raney

Rev. William Raney passed away in Charlottesville, Virginia, after a short battle with prostate cancer. He was born in Drayton, North Dakota, one of seven children of Albert and Carrie Raney. He was raised in Morgan Hill, attended local schools, and following college, was ordained a Methodist minister. For nearly 60 years, he pastored churches in North Carolina and Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, daughter, Leslie Dawley, and son, Craig Raney. Also a brother, Donald Raney of Santa Barbara, and a sister, Eleanor Hornall of Spokane, WA, and a brother-in-law, John H. Khan of Morgan Hill. He leaves seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Virginia.

Leo Ludewig passed away at home on September 18, 2007, with his family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife Judi, loving children; Stephen, Kenneth & Susan, step-daughters; Tiffany & Joni, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pedro Palacios Camacho Baez

Pedro Palacios Camacho Baez, known as "Peter" to his friends and family, passed away suddenly and without warning on Monday, September 3, 2007. Peter was born on November 25, 1963 in Paris, France. For the first seven years of his life, Peter was raised in an orphanage in Cadiz, Spain. He was adopted by Samuel and Marianne Baez and raised on the east coast. He joined the United States Air Force and ultimately went to live in San Francisco, Gilroy, Campbell and San Jose, California, so that he could further his career in the banking industry, and be around people he loved and admired. He was particularly close to his cousin, folk singer and social activist, Joan Baez, of Woodside, California. Peter set high goals for himself, and attended San Jose City College where he was an exceptional student. He generously volunteered his time to work with non-profit organizations including ARIS, and other programs serving people with HIV/AIDS. He started one of the first Medical Marijuana Programs in the Country, the Santa Clara County Medical Cannabis Center, and was always willing to lend a hand to help those less fortunate than he. He received many awards for his community service. Peter is survived by his parents, his brothers; Robert, John and Michael, his family and his partners in life; Jesse Garcia and Roy Maharshi. Peter was a shining light in a grey world, and will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. A private memorial service will be held in Peter's honor on September 22, 2007. May the energy that Peter brought into our lives be a constant source in yours. We love you Peter. Rest in Peace.
