Betty N. Laizure passed away at her home Tuesday evening from Multiple Sclerosis. She was the wife of 56 years to Jim Laizure; mother of Lynn Noto (Benjie) and their children, Melissa & Kevin; Robert Laizure and his son, Ben; Karen Holvick and her children, Andrew and Brenda and Brenda's children, Isabel & Accalia; Chuck Laizure (Julie) and their son, Chris; long-time companion and care-giver Beverly Rivera and God- daughter Louisa Lopez; and sister of Dick Soares (Barbara).
David Tilden King of Hollister, CA, passed away on Sept. 4, 2007 from a sudden heart attack. He is survived by his father, Paul King of Hollister; brother Tom King of Hollister; sister Suzi Miroglio of Carmichael, CA; and sister Michelle Pritchard of Redding, CA. He also leaves behind a niece and three nephews: Taylor Miroglio of Carmichael; Ben Miroglio of Carmichael; Chase Pritchard of Redding; and Conor Pritchard of Redding. David joins his mother, Jackie King of Hollister, in Heaven, who preceded him in death last year.
Carol A. Winters was born July 24, 1954 in Hollywood, CA. Carol was predeceased by her father, Douglas Winters and her mother, Odette Moore. Carol was a prolific gardener, a caring nurse and lived life to the fullest. She will be sorely missed by the children she played cards with, taught to swim, and in general, spent time with. She is survived by her son Aaron, son Adrian, daughter Yvette and son Isaiah. Other surviving members include her brother Patrick, sister Claudette, and brother David.
Marie E. Baker, 75, passed away Friday, August 31, 2007 in Good Samaritan Hospital, San Jose. She was the wife of the late Richard "Dick" Baker, mother of David Baker of Gilroy and the late Janet Boggs and Laura Baker, grandmother of Nicky, Danny, David, Galen & Annelise Boggs, Malcolm Hetzer, Caiti, Bridget and Shannon Baker, great-grandmother of Liam, sister of Ray & Gene England and the late Cecil & Harold England.
Mary Jo (Joyce) Steed of Morgan Hill was born on March 13, 1942 in Long Beach, CA. She passed away at home on July 27, 2007 at the age of 65, after nearly twelve years courageously battling emphysema. Mary had a love for animals that started when she was very young, riding horses on the beach and working on the family dairy as a child. The family moved the dairy to Modesto where Mary graduated from Downing High School.
Josefina Ceja passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 75 at her home in Hollister. A full obituary will appear later this week. Services are pending at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home.
Josefina R. Ceja passed away at 73 at her home in Hollister on Tuesday. She was born in Strawn, Texas and came to Hollister 50 years ago. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Teamsters Union Local 890. She had worked for over 20 years in local canneries.
Wilbert (Will) Klamm born in Parkville, Missouri, passed away Saturday morning at 91 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital of heart failure. He is survived by his wife, Jean, whom he married on November 1, 1941. Will also is survived by his daughters, Ginny Ibsen, husband, Rob, of Felton, Judy Gagne, husband, Jerry, of Fremont and a son, Bill Klamm of Roseville,
Richard T. Gorsche was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday afternoon at the age of 79 at his home in Hollister. Richard was employed at Live Oak High School as a work experience and Spanish teacher. He retired in 1984 after 29 years of teaching. He attended Dowling High School in Des Moines and graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended San Jose State where he received his teaching credentials. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army. Richard was an active member of SIRS and the Knights of Columbus with the Sacred Heart Church in Hollister for many years.
