CAROL LOUISE TOTTEN passed away early on July 28th in La Selva Beach, CA and will be dearly missed by her loving family. Carol was born on July 1`st, 1916 in San Francisco, CA. She lived in Panoche Valley until age 4 and then lived in Hollister, CA. She graduated from San Benito Junior College in 1935. She married the love of her life, Frank Leon Totten and raised her family of three children first in Aromas and then in Watsonville. Carol was a homemaker, a gardener and a wonderful seamstress. She loved caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Watsonville. She was a member of the church Women's Circle and Sewing Group. She is predeceased by her husband, Frank Leon Totten, parents Clara and Lloyd Langford, brothers, Leland Langford, and Broderick Langford. She is survived by her daughter, Janis Totten Rice and husband Kent of Santa Cruz; Philip Leon Totten and wife Sandy of Raton, New Mexico; and Jerry Stephen Totten and his wife Linda of Dunsmuir. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren which she delighted in being with, and a special brother and sister in law, Clarence and Merna Totten of Watsonville and many nieces and nephews
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2007 2:00 P.M. at Temple Beth El, 1212 Riker Street, Salinas, CA. A full obituary will be in tomorrow's paper.
John Charles Meacham, known as Chuck or "Chick" to his close friends and family, died Monday at the Veteran's Hospital in Palo Alto after a lengthy illness. He was born in Bakersfield on April 27, 1933 to the late Edna Mae and Guy Meacham. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters; Gloria Meacham White and Betty Meacham Eberhardt and his in-laws Louie and Rita Angelino. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Geraldine Angelino Meacham, his son David and daughter-in-law Lori and grandchildren; Jenna and Bradley all of Gilroy. Also his sister-in-law Laura Angelino; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Betty Angelino, all of Gilroy; step sister-in-law Deb Togliatti of Mountain View; brother of James Gregg Meacham and his wife Joyce of Bakersfield and his sister Kathy Meacham Horstman and her husband Ed of Montana. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Chuck served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and later was co-owner of M&M Trucking in Bakersfield. Chuck and his family relocated to Gilroy in 1995. He was a member of St. Mary Church and the Gilroy Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Palo Alto Veteran's Hospice Care Center, 3801 Miranda Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304 or the Gilroy Elk's Lodge Charity Fund.
At 102 years old, California native and long time resident of Gilroy left her family and numerous friends. She was an inspirational lady who retained her youthful exhuberance and charm to the very end and will be celebrated and remembered for generations of her family.
Janae Beatrice Lopez passed away Thursday afternoon at the age of 8 months after a lengthy illness at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto. She is survived by her parents, Stephanie Castillo and Gus Lopez, sisters: Celine Sotelo and Kaili Lopez, grandparents, Carmen and Max Castillo, Gustavo T. Lopez, Lucy Villasana and great-grandparents, Pete and Beatrice Lopez all of Hollister. Preceded in death by her late great-grandparents, George & Luz Villasana.
Frances A. Patterson passed away Thursday evening at the age of 80 at St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy. Born in San Jose, she lived in San Benito county for 30 years, moving to Salinas in 1996. She had been a health care dietitian for 20 years. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Frank F. Patterson in 1988. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Patterson and grandson, Ben Patterson, both living in Paicines. She also is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Julia Anagnoston Thompson was born November 28, 1959 at Stanford hospital to Taki Anagnoston, M.D. and Annette Anagnoston Shields. She graduated from Santa Catalina School in 1977 and the University of San Francisco in 1981 with a bachelor's degree. Julia worked for 15 years in commercial and investment banking before taking a position as the executive assistant to the Executive Director of the San Francisco branch of the United Way. She left to help operate Trinity Alps Golf Course and Restaurant in Weaverville, CA until it's sale to local investors.
