Leonard (Len) Larson

LEONARD "LEN" LARSON, 88, of Gilroy, passed away July 13, 2007. He was the husband of the late Rachel Larson (6/8/2007), father of Diana Clark (Greg) of Crescent City, Carol Larson of Gilroy and Lyle Larson of San Jose, CA, grandfather of Jonathan Clark of Medford, OR, and Katie Clark of Crescent City, brother of Miriam Harvey of Orange County and the late Arnold and Howard Larson. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He enjoyed boating, flea marketing, gambling, fishing and the stock market. Family services have been held. Donations may be made to The Humane Society.

Levina Wilson

Levina Wilson was born on August 26, 1920 at Haviland, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel & Jessie Marguerite Michael Paulding. She died on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, Enid, OK.

Marjorie Struzenberg

Passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 in Gilroy, California after a year long battle with cancer. Marge is survived by her son, Edward Struzenberg, Jr., her brothers, Wayne and Bill Cooper, and her nieces and nephews. :Marge's husband, Edward S ruzenberg, Sr. and son, Bill Struzenberg. have both preceded her in death. Marge dedicated her life to her family, friends, church, community, and her faith. Marge was an active elder of Church of the Valley in San Martin and was their Missions Coordinator for over 20 years. She also volunteered for the Food Bank Ministry, volunteered for Celebrate Recovery, and was an active member and long-time resident of the Morgan Hill and Gilroy communities. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 2pm at Church of the Valley, 13380 Depot St, San Martin, CA 95046. She was loved by all and will truly be missed.

Binit A. Patel

Binit A. Patel passed away in San Jose at the age of 37. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 3:00 PM at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home in Hollister. Cremation will be followed by private family inurnment.

Charles E. O’Dell

Soldotna, Alaska resident Charles E. O'Dell, formerly of Gilroy, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 60.

Connie Ortiz, age 65, passed away at her home Wednesday, July 18th, with her loving family at her side.

Sarah Tanaka

SARAH TANAKA, 59, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Kaiser Redwood City peacefully with her family. She was the wife of Ron Tanaka of Gilroy, mother of Raymond Barrientos & Riki Tanaka, both of Gilroy, daughter of Manuela Castillo and her husband, Emilio, of Gilroy and the late Jesus Velez, sister of Jenny De La Cueva (Camilo) of Gilroy, Julia Benitez of Gilroy and Elpidio Morales of Colorado, sister-in-law of Larry & Helen Tanaka and Scott & Diane Tanaka all of Gilroy, daughter-in-law of Grace Tanaka and the late Ned Tanaka. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A native of Gilroy.

Jennifer Garcia

Passed away in San Jose. She was born in Hollister and lived in San Jose for the past 7 years. She is survived by her husband, Mariano Garcia of San Jose, her mother, Dolores Trujillo Lopez of Hollister her daughters, Madison Mercedes Garcia of San Jose and Samantha Jane Delaney Garcia of San Jose, her sisters, Dorothy Reyes of Vancouver, WA and Christina Ayon of Hollister, brothers in law, Raul Ayon of Hollister and Christopher Cameron of Vancouver, WA, mother in law, Eppie Garcia of San Jose, comadre to Dolores, Mary Roman of Hollister, nephews, Shiloh Ivory Davison of Hollister, Pedro Raul Ayon of Hollister, grandmother, Herlinda Trujillo of Calistoga, her father, Frank Reyes of Hollister and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

George Morioka

George Morioka was born in Portland, Oregon on January 7, 1929 and passed away in Gilroy on July 17, 2007 at the age of 78. He was an internee at Tule Lake and later a resident of Morgan Hill since 1946. A long time employee of Ford Motor Company, he retired in 1986. He also worked many years as a farmer and a gardener in Santa Clara County. George was an avid fisherman and crabber, whose generosity with his catch, his time and whatever he had was legendary. He is survived by his loving wife Norma, his brother Glen Morioka, sister Emie Wada, his children; Cindy Perez, Barbara Manegold, Jeff Morioka, Susan Sakai, Michael Morioka and 9 grandchildren.

Elizabeth L. “Betty” DeRosa

Beloved daughter of the late Frank G. and Ann DeRosa and the aunt of the late Don William Rodgers passed away at the Country Villa Nursing Home in Watsonville at the age of 78 years. Betty was a native of Hollister and a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Betty is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Beverly and R. C. Rodgers of Hollister; her niece and nephew-in-law; Denise Thome and husband Jerry of Hollister; her great-nephews; Nathan Thome, who attends U.S.C. and Kevin Thome of Hollister and many cousins. Private graveside services and burial were held Wednesday afternoon at 1 P.M. at the family plot at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Officiant was the Rev. Gavin Griffith from St. Francis Retreat. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart School Foundation, c/o Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home.
