Carol “Puff” Faith Spurr

Carol entered into rest Thursday July 12, 2007. Born August 10, 1963 in Mountain View, CA, she resided most of her life in Sunnyvale, CA. She lived her life to the fullest, while courageously facing the many challenges of cystic fibrosis. As a double lung transplant recipient in 1997, she truly valued the additional time she was given. She loved going to concerts, traveling, bowling and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Helen Vivian Doudiet

Helen Vivian Doudiet passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Mabie Southside Skilled Nursing Facility at the age of 88. She was born in Sumner, Washington and came to Hollister at the age of two. She graduated from Hollister High School in 1936 and attended San Benito Jr. College for a year before moving to San Francisco to attend the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1940 and earned her Registered Nursing license. The next year she married Theodore Doudiet, who also grew up in Hollister. They lived in San Francisco. When the last of their three children entered college in 1967, Helen once again put her R.N. license to use when she became a health education instructor for the California State Preschool Program. She spent the next ten years working with low income parents, making certain their children were properly immunized and that they had regularly scheduled health care. She also studied early childhood development and incorporated the important lessons about how children learn into her teaching.

Patricia Marie Wright

Patricia "Patty" Wright, age 62, passed away in Hollister, CA on Monday, July 16th, due to complications from endometrial cancer. Patty was a life long resident of Hollister and is survived by her husband of 42 years, David Wright, her father Sal Bravo and stepmother, Carol Bravo of San Martin, CA and was preceded in death by her mother, the late Angie Bravo. Patty has three children, Michelle Trout (husband, Damon) of Grand Prairie, TX, Gina Perry (husband, Scott) of Hollister and Tom Wright (wife, Danyette) of Hollister. Her brothers Reggie Bravo of San Martin, CA, Don Bravo of Chico, CA and Josh Bravo of San Martin, CA survive her as well as her stepsisters, Penny Pillman of Morgan Hill, CA and Christine Whitehurst of Sonora, CA. Her sisters Sally Sawyer and Linda Dunn preceded her in death. She has eight grandchildren, Kali, Kari & Katlin Trout, Kelsie & Dylan Perry and Devin & Breyette Wright and Daniel Bienko.

Annette H. Ventura

Annette was the Bakery Manager for the former Lucky and Albertson Super Markets. She was a graduate of Hollister High and Gavilan College. Friends are invited to services Saturday July 21st at New Beginnings Pentecostal Church 10 N. Sally St., Hollister at 10 A.M. Interment, San Juan District Cemetery.

Enedina Martinez

Sra. Enedina Martinez nee Hernandez of 1230 Crestview Rd, Hollister, died on Friday, July 13, 2007. Sra. Martinez, a resident of Hollister for 51 years was born on 13 May 1920 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico and was the widow of the late Isaac Martinez to whom she was married for 49 years. Sra. Martinez was a homemaker and enjoyed the music of Agustin Lara. The young family left Mexico in search of a better life. During her lifetime she witnessed immigration policy changes. During the early 1950s she saw her husband and two pre-teen daughters get picked up and held in a holding camp located near Presa Falcon in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. After that the family moved temporarily to Mexico, as the law required, in order to petition for legal residence. Shortly after that the family moved to Hollister. Sra. Martinez has been a member of the Jehovah's Witness Congregation for many years.

Jerry Wayne Biggs

Jerry passed away suddenly at the age of 62. Born in Amarillo, Texas, the family moved to San Jose in 1958 and has resided in Morgan Hill, California for the last 23 years.

Florence May Carlson

Florence May Carlson passed away June 28, 2007 in Visalia, CA. Memorial services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, July 20th at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth St., Gilroy.

Christopher Jon Fontanilla

Christopher Jon Fontanilla, 45, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on July 10, 2007. He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew. He is survived by his father; Gilbert Fontanilla, mother; Peggy Rae Pettis, sister; Jamie Green, 1/2 sister; Lisa Diehn, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

William H. (Bill) Lasseter

William H. (Bill) Lasseter passed away in Hollister. He was born in Sanger, CA and moved to Hollister when he was 2 years old and lived here all of his life. He married his wife Barbara in 1953 in Carmel. He worked for Black Cooper Furniture and Mortuary for many years and Lyle Cooper was his friend and mentor. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Bolado Park Men's Club, Hollister Elks, Eagles, SIRS and was a member of The Knights of Columbus and was a past grand knight. He also was a big supporter of Special Olympics and youth sports. He and Barbara liked to travel and take cruises which included trips to Hawaii and Europe.

Arthur Joseph Hunsdorfer, Jr.

Local businessman Arthur Joseph Hunsdorfer, Jr., 71, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lindsay, California on July 24, 1935 to Helen and Arthur Joseph Hunsdorfer, Sr. He was a loving and courageous husband, father, grandfather and friend.
