Estelle S. Pakula

Estelle S. Pakula passed away in Hollister. She was born in Chicago, IL, was of Polish decent and resided in Hollister for the last 2-1/2 years. She went parasailing on her 80th birthday and walked on an iceberg in Alaska in 2001. She also liked to dance to the Polka.

James Mitchell Henry

James Mitchell Henry left the world as he lived, with a creative and artistic flair. He passed away at his home shortly after celebrating his 68th birthday with cake and friends. James was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Teresa Schuler-Henry, in March, 2007. He is survived by his son, Sean Michael Henry and daughter-in-law, Sabrina Olivas-Henry, Grandson, Hayden Patrick Henry and a granddaughter on her way. Before his retirement in Hollister, James worked in San Francisco on Navy ships as a laborer and firewatchman.

Chester H. Botill passed away July 9, 2007. A native of Gilroy, he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor, son Lester and his wife Connie Botill, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son Chester Botill.

Julie Joan Pusateri

It is with great sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, wife, daughter, and friend, due to complications from a pulmonary embolism. Julie leaves behind her husband of 15 years, Nick, as well as three sons that she adored, Jonathan, 18, Nicholas, 14 and Daniel, 12. She is survived by her father, Freeman Perreira, sisters Susan and Rebecca, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie.

Joe Doris

Joe Doris, 85, of Salinas, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007 after a short illness. He was born on March 22, 1922 in Cherokee, KS. He was raised in Corona, KS, where he was an outstanding athlete. Joe always referred to Kansas as " home" and could spin numerous tales of his exploits. In 1940, he moved to Hollister where he worked as a mechanic for the Hollister Canning Co. He moved to "The Alisal" in 1953, where he owned Friendly and Bi-Wise Markets with his brother Mike and Thrifty Market with his son John. After selling his last store, he worked as a butcher for Quality Market. He finished his career as a mechanic for E.B. Stone and Son Fertilizer Co. He prided himself on a fully lined meat case and a production line that operated smoothly. He loved his wife Anita, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brother, nieces, nephews and his extended family immeasurably. There was never anyone that was not welcome at his table for a good meal and conversation, even the Raider fans. He took joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the Fighting Irish, the 49'ers, his tomatoes and fava beans, and any song he could dance to.

Dolores K. Weathermon

Mom passed away peacefully with family at her bedside. She will be missed deeply by everyone who loves her. She journeys before two daughters, Cindy & Stacy Weathermon, two grandchildren, Sabrina and Brian and great-grandson Dylan, brothers & sisters: Nancy Morgan, Dorothy Gaither, Virginia Buell, Charles, Bill, Alan, Ronny & Donald Lakeman. She loved family outings at Pismo Beach, family card games, bingo & bowling. She now joins her parents, Jacob & Della Lakeman to walk with God along a never-ending sunset filled with peace and love; until we meet again.

Virginia Belle Samuelson

Virginia Belle Samuelson passed away at the age of 78 on Wednesday evening at her home in Hollister. Virginia was born in Glendale, CA, having lived in Long Beach and Hayward prior to coming to Hollister 45 years ago. Virginia was an active member of Hollister United Methodist Church and had been a track coach for 24 years for the San Benito High School. She was recently chosen to be a member of the high school Hall of Fame. Virginia was a Audiometrist in which she did hearing testing for 40 years.

Maria Soares de Moura Andrade

Maria Soares de Moura Andrade passed away on July 1, 2007. She was 85 years of age. Maria was born in Santa Maria, Azores (in Portugal) and came to California in 1966 to live in Sunnyvale. She is preceded in death by her husband, Germano Andrade, who died in 1982 and 7 of her children. She is survived by her children; Jose Andrade of Orland, CA, Armenia and husband Kevin Jefferson of San Jose, CA and Linda Andrade of Morgan Hill, CA, her grandchildren; John Andrade of San Jose, CA, Alicia and her husband John Cuevas of Morgan Hill, CA, Kristen and Brian Jefferson of San Jose, Jason Cooper of Palo Cedro, CA, her great-grandchildren; Jessica, Jacob, Isabel, Alexis and Isaac. Also survived by her younger sister Deolinda of Norwood, MA and her sister-in-law and best friend Adelaide Andrade of Los Gatos, CA.
