This year the Gilroy Police Department has implemented new animal control regulations and pet licensing procedures to promote responsible pet ownership and community safety. One of the recent resources includes an Internet database that will assist pet owners who may have lost their dogs.

On the police department’s website, www.cityofgilroy.org, pet owners now have the ability to review a photograph, location, date and brief description of each dog that is found and held at the GPD’s kennel.

As the information on this website is updated weekly, pet owners are encouraged to contact the GPD at 846-0350 to report lost dogs. This aids Animal Control Officers in determining the ownership of unlicensed or non-microchipped animals, further expediting the lost and found process.

For any questions regarding animal control regulations, please contact the city’s animal control officer at 846-0338.
