SALINAS – Gilroy High wrestling dominated the matches that actually took place in duals against the Alvarez Eagles and North Salinas Vikings Wednesday night.
Only three matches were contested against the Eagles, with Gilroy taking two of them.
The Mustangs’ Adam Rosso (140 pounds) lost by fall to Manny Mendoza, but Fabian Laredo (215) won by pin over Isaac Fausto and Benjamin Torricer (160) defeated Hector Rojas in an 8-2 decision.
North Salinas lost 59-24 to Gilroy, taking four of 13 matches, but all were achieved by Mustang forfeitures.
Laredo, Rosso, Torricer, Vincent Aboytes (152), Rodney Balajadia (130), Luis Barragan (285), Martin Gonzalez (125) and Felix Gonzalez (160) all won their matches with a pin, while Jesse Delgado (119) won his match by technical fall 16-0 in the second round.
Gilroy will be taking a select group of wrestlers to the Five Counties Wrestling Tournament, also known as the “Beast in the West,” this Friday and Saturday.
