Following its impressive season-opening win against Stevenson on Wednesday, the Christopher High girls varsity basketball team made its debut in front of the hometown fans Friday night.
The Cougars hosted Del Mar, engaging in a low-scoring affair, which eventually swung in the Dons’ favor 33-22.
CHS took a 10-6 lead after one quarter but went cold from the field for much of the rest of the game, scoring just one point in the second quarter and three in the third as the Dons did just enough on the offensive side to earn the win.
The Cougars (1-1) begin play in the Watsonville Tournament on Thursday against San Benito at 5 p.m.
