Turning a game tied at halftime into its fourth win in five tries to start the season, the GHS girls basketball team improved to 4-1 with a 55-49 triumph over Santa Teresa on Tuesday in San Jose.
Ashlee Williams shot 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line for a team-high 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds, falling one short of a double-double.
The Mustangs and Saints drew even 24-24 at the intermission. However, GHS outscored Santa Teresa 16-7 in the third, providing enough of a cushion down the stretch.
Ashley Lambert, Kaylana Mah and Michelle Sosa all scored in double figures with 10, 11 and 12 points, respectively.
The Mustangs host Soquel tonight in non-league action. GAme time is slated for 7 p.m.
A trip to the coast for the Seaside Sweet 16 also lies ahead for the Mustangs. Game 1 of that tournament is scheduled for Monday at 12:30 p.m.
