Slim halftime lead doesn’t stick in loss to Monte Vista
Christian.
The inaugural varsity season for the Christopher High girls basketball came to a close Tuesday night in a 57-50 loss to Monte Vista Christian in the first round of the Monterey Bay League postseason tournament.

Led by a 24-point, 10-rebound night from Hanna Tabron, the Cougars held a slim 22-21 halftime lead.

Both teams’ offenses found rhythm in the second half, but MVC outscored the Cougars 36-25 down the stretch to move on in the tournament.

Head coach Heather Stewart’s Cougars (8-14, 4-8 MBL) came into the game playing their best ball of the season, including a victory over the same Monte Vista squad last week. The 50 points is the second-highest point total of the season for the Cougars. They scored 51 in a win over Monterey on Feb. 7.
