Despite a season high 17 points from junior Merrett Brown, the Christopher High girls basketball team suffered a 52-38 loss to Monterey Bay League opponent Monte Vista Christian on Thursday night in Gilroy.

The Cougars trailed by 10 heading into the fourth quarter and were forced to foul to try and keep within striking distance, head coach Heather Stewart said. However, MVC hit 7-of-10 from the free throw line in the final period to keep the margin in its favor.

Hanna Tabron contributed six points for the Cougars who now sit at 5-10 overall and 1-4 in MBL play.

CHS travels to face Watsonville on Tuesday.
