Velasquez has four hits in 22-5 win
GILROY – Goldsmith Seeds grabbed a berth in the Women’s ‘C’ League best 2-of-3 Championship Series next month with a 22-5 victory over Kay’s Kids Daycare Wednesday at Gavilan Sports Park.

The Seeds improved to 5-0 in the second half of play, while Kay’s slipped into second place at 3-2 with the M&M’s, Let’s Do This and the Energizers.

Goldsmith will meet first-half titlist Dutchman’s Pizza for the season title.

Gina Velasquez socked four hits and Emily Hernandez homered for the Seeds. Antoinette Bowe drove in four Goldsmith runs. Kat Corrales went 3-for-3 and Lorraine Marquez scored twice for Kay’s Kids.

Lena Keller went 6-for-6 and Jodi Mendez stroked a home run in a five-hit effort as Let’s Do This topped Chaos 28-14. Jessica Gomez drove in four Let’s runs with a home run and double. Lee Ann Blean hit two home runs for Chaos. Sandi Liberatore singled, doubled and tripled for Chaos.

The Energizers defeated Eugene Marks Tractor Service 17-4 behind four hits each from Donna Martin and Anisa Velasco. Julie Wheeler went 2-for-4 with one RBI for the Tractors.

Sally Wrye turned a single and two doubles into seven runs batted in during the first inning as the M&M’s topped the Hpnotiqs 20-3. Erin Machado drove in five M&M’s runs. Liz Talavera went 2-for-3 and Mari Garcia scored two runs for Hpnotiqs.

Handmade Healthcare has a one-game lead in the Women’s B League after a 20-11 loss to Don’s Vending Wednesday at Las Animas Park.

Jolene Carrasco, Cory Casillas and Ermelinda Garcia each went 4-got-5 as Don’s Vending moved to 3-2. Melissa Taku scored four Vendor runs.

Missy Howe homered in a 4-for-5 night for 4-1 Handmade. Lisa Sanchez went 5-for-5. A Handmade win would have clinched the second-half pennant.

Williams Dental Lab is also 3-2 after a 21-6 decision over Dutchman’s Pizza. Maureen Hughes ripped two triples and two singles for Williams Dental, Cherie Somavia a triple, double and two singles. Kristen Rennard went 4-for-4 for Dutchman’s Pizza.
