The Mustangs, who posted a 242, just missed a third-place finish by three strokes. Salinas took third with a 239 while Palma and San Benito finished one, two with a 192 and 202, respectively.

“I’m pretty darn happy being that was the first tournament of the year,” GHS head coach Jared Gamble said.

Tommy Cox penciled in a 45, Mitch Goldsmith a 46, Cory Gowan shot a 50 and Philip Gundy a 59.

Gilroy resumes TCAL play Monday at Salinas Golf Club. Each of the seven league teams host a tournament.
