Frys.com Open

The Oct. 11-17 Frys.com Open, Silicon Valley’s first PGA event,
will hand out six more sponsor exemptions.
SAN MARTIN – Jamie Lovemark, a Rancho Santa Fe native who leads the Nationwide Tour money list, has received the second sponsor exemption for the Oct. 13-17 Frys.com Open at CordeValle, tournament director Ian Knight announced today.

Lovemark has started eight PGA Tour events in two years of professional play and recently won the 2010 Mexico Open Bicentenary. His best PGA finish came at last year’s Frys.com Open in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he lost in a sudden-death playoff with Rickie Fowler and eventual champion Troy Matteson.

Lovemark captured an NCAA championship with Southern California in 2007.

“His achievements in 2010 alone make him the perfect candidate for a sponsor exemption,” Knight said.

The upcoming Frys.com Open, Silicon Valley’s first PGA event, will hand out six more sponsor exemptions.

The tournament’s list of committed players continues to grow steadily. It now includes eight-time PGA Tour winner Brad Faxon, 2009 Bob Hope Classic winner Pat Perez, four-time winner Steve Flesch and two-timer Jason Bohn – now ranked 29th on the 2010 FedEx Cup list. Rich Beem, winner of the 2002 PGA Championship, also committed to play recently. Other big names include: Ricky Barnes, John Daly, Paul Goydos, Rocco Mediate, David Duval and Fowler.

Part of the PGA Tour’s Fall Series, the Frys.com Open also will feature a qualifying tournament in mid-September for local PGA players. The 132-person field will be finalized Oct. 8.
