Davis Love III, the U.S. Ryder Cup captain, has committed to play in the Frys.com Open Open at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin.

Love, 48, has 20 victories on the PGA Tour, including the 1997 PGA Championship and two Players Championships. Last week, Love finished in the top-10 at the Wyndham Championship. He is competing in the Barclays Championship in Farmingdale, N.Y. where the FedExCup playoffs begin this week.

“We are excited to add an outstanding Champion, Davis Love, to our field,” said Tournament Director Jeff Sanchez. “We look forward to seeing Davis just two weeks after he leads the U.S. Ryder Cup team.”

The Ryder Cup is set for Sept. 28-30 at Medinah Country Club in Chicago. Eight players have qualified for the Ryder Cup team on points. Love will name four additional team members on Sept. 4.

Though he played at the Frys.com Open while it was in Las Vegas and Scottsdale, this will be his first start at the the Oct. 10-14 tournament since it moved to San Martin in 2010.
