Gilroy, meet your newest champions.
The team of RJ Montez and Mike Hoshida shot 5 over par 40 in the alternate shot format to win the Gilroy Adult Junior tournament and claim the title of the 2013 champions Sunday at Gilroy Golf Course.
The duo narrowly escaped the team of Jaeshawn Hoenck and Brian Thompson, who were scored at 46. Right behind them was the team of Johnny and Elijah Orosco who finished third with a 47.
Amy and Gordan Gunther’s 44 narrowly beat the duo Kylee and Eric Kuwada, who shot 48, to claim the prize for the girls division. Alex Granados and Manny Gallardo — Kylee Kuwada’s teammate and coach, respectively, at Christopher High — finished third with a 51.
The father and son team of Max Jr. and Sr. Ramirez won the 13-14Â division scoring a 46 in the tournament.
Julie Santiago and Tom Gallardo Sr. took second place, while Chris and Brian Riley finished third.
The team of Keegan and Shawn Hennessy fired a 44 for first place in the 10 and under division.
Alexander and Tommy Gallardo were close behind scoring a 48. Jordan and Jeremy Bowers finished in third place in that division with a score of 52.
Dominic Bozzo, a 5-year-old golfer, won the award for the youngest participant in the event.
