CALLER 1: Yes, I’m calling your line here to say how disappointed I am to see that you have what they call semi-pro football, the Barnstormers, on the front page of the sports section. That’s like an adult Pop Warner. Those guys need to grow up. I’d much rather see you use the space on promoting the other high school in town with their sports. Anchorpoint Christian should be listed somewhere in there. These adult guys pay to play, just like the little guys do for Pop Warner.

GREEN PHONE: Caller 1, Read on you’re not alone.

CALLER 2: I would just like to leave a message to see if it’s possible for you to give the freshman baseball team a little bit of newspaper coverage. They generally play at the same time the varsity is playing and a lot of the time it’s on the same field. So if you guys could just give the freshmen a little coverage, I’m sure they would appreciate it. Thanks.

GREEN PHONE: Caller 1 (and Caller 2). Caller 1, it sounds like you’re more exasperated by the lack of Anchorpoint coverage than upset that we did a preview on the “local” semi-pro football team. First, we want to remind everyone, as if we need reminding, that we’ve had 23 days of rain this month and the story on the Barnstormers was a perfect answer to our prayers of a local piece that could be written. As for Anchorpoint and their coverage, or lack there of, all we can tell you is that we agree with you wholeheartedly. We’d love to get more of the school’s games in the newspaper but none of the coaches call and with our staffing situation we rely heavily on freshman and junior varsity coaches getting us the information. So, Caller 1 if you have the hearing ear of the athletic director or coaches at Anchorpoint Christian please tell them to call in their scores and we’ll be happy to publish them. Caller 2, the same is true for freshmen and for that matter junior varsity team coverage. We’d be more than happy to publish results and brief recaps of the games but we need the coaches of those teams to call in. Thanks callers, hope this falls on the right ears.
