MOUNTAIN VIEW – GHS freshman gymnast Megan Nebesnick, who is one of three varsity members on the team, finished in first place for the second meet in a row, capturing a nonleague meet victory in the all-around competition with a 36.0 total score Wednesday in Mountain View.
Freshman Caitie Shannon of Christopher High, who finished third at least week’s league meet and is the lone varsity member representing the Cougars, followed that up with a fifth-place showing with a 34.55.
Wednesday’s field was packed with strong gymnasts from St. Francis-Mountain View, Gunn High School, Lowell and Palo Alto, GHS and CHS gymnastics head coach Nicki Anagnoston said.
“This was the perfect timing for a huge confidence boost,” Anagnoston said. “It puts us in the right mind set to be competitive.”
