High school homecoming week culminates today in a smattering of spirit activities that will pour out into the streets and sky.

The day kicks with a school-wide rally just before noon, with students bedecked in blue and gold, the school’s colors. The dress theme is the last in a week’s worth of costumes that included hippie outfits, togas and beach wear.

The public festivities start at 3:15 p.m. as a student parade heads out from the parking lot behind the school and up Princevalle Street.

The troop of about 150 to 200 students – including athletes, cheerleaders, student government officers and the high school marching band and color guard showing off their talents – will take a left on Sixth Street, heading west, then turn south on Orchard Drive.

The parade will head back east on 10th Street and return to the parking lot by heading south on Princevalle Street.

One of the highlight of the parade – which most students watch from the grass outside the school on Princevalle and 10th streets – will be the four floats. Students spent 22 hours over four days designing and building the van-sized shows of spirit.

After the parade, the junior varsity and varsity football teams will play games against league heavyweight Palma starting at 5:30 p.m. There will be fireworks between the games and during halftime of the varsity game, which starts at 7:30 p.m.

Finally, after the game, the homecoming dance will start and students will have a chance to kindle chaperoned romance until 11 p.m.
