Freshman guard Breanna Hernandez hit three 3-pointers on her way to 15 points, but Gavilan College’s women’s basketball team suffered a 61-53 home loss to Napa Valley on Tuesday night.
Andreinna Castaneda had 11 points and eight rebounds for Gavilan (1-10), which couldn’t erase a 13-point halftime deficit. Former Gilroy High standout Vanessa Wilkins had nine points, four assists and three steals for the Rams, who got nine points from Tawne Haynish.
“We definitely battled and had an opportunity toward the end of the game, but we had an off shooting night,” Gavilan coach Erik Nelson said. “Overall, we’re just continuing to battle.”
