Infant Seriously Injured, Father Sought by Police

suspect
Morgan Hill – The Stockton Police Department, in conjunction with the Morgan Hill Police Department, is asking the public’s help in locating a suspect who has family in Morgan Hill and San Martin and who’s wanted on suspicion of abusing a 2-month-old girl listed in extremely critical condition at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton.

According to police sources, the infant, who’s on life support, received numerous injuries Tuesday afternoon that investigators believed were caused by her father. The suspect is identified as Diego Gallegos, 42. He’s described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s wanted for felony child abuse and was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue sweat pants, brown shoes and a white baseball cap.
