Jacqulyn M. Apgar, born July 18, 1933, died Nov. 5, 2003. Funeral services and interment were at Cloverdale Funeral Home, Boise, Idaho.
Jackie was born in Pennsylvania while her father was employed there temporarily before returning to Tuscaloosa, Ala. Jackie graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor of science degree in microbiology in 1955 and took advanced studies in bacteriology at Charity Hospital, which is a part of Tulane University. Jackie is a member of the University of Alabama Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi International Fraternity and, after graduation, a member of the American Society of Medical Technologists; she also was a member of several honorary groups while at the university. After completing her studies, Jackie went to Broward General Hospital in Florida to work in the Bacteriology Department and then to Morristown General Hospital in New Jersey to be in charge of the Medical Technology Department as well as to teach.
Jackie is the mother of Bob Apgar of Sacramento, and Lori Hansen of Nampa. During the Vietnam era, Jackie was a research scientist at Warner Lambert Research Institute and for two years was mother, father and homemaker for her children. Upon moving to California, Jackie entered real estate and was very successful in her endeavors earning many awards. While in California, Jackie was active in several com-munity groups among them were the Gilroy Gators Swim Club, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Jackie enjoyed gourmet cooking, knitting, sewing, gardening and reading. Jackie and her husband of 45 years retired to Nampa in the fall of 2002 where she died in their home.
Family would like to express their thanks to the medical staff of St. Luke’s Hospital, to their friends and neighbors for the food and support, and to all of the staff of St. Luke’s Hospice for the loving and tender care they gave to Jackie.
