Former Gilroy resident James Carl Boyce died after a short bout
with cancer at his daughter and son-in-law’s home – Bette and Fred
Hart – in Boulder Creek on Tuesday, April 13, 2004. He was 77.
Former Gilroy resident James Carl Boyce died after a short bout with cancer at his daughter and son-in-law’s home – Bette and Fred Hart – in Boulder Creek on Tuesday, April 13, 2004. He was 77.

Boyce attended Gilroy schools and graduated in 1942. He served in the Navy Air Corps during World War II. He loved country music, gardening, fishing and was a skilled musician. He was a Fiddletown resident for more than 28 years.

Boyce leaves four daughters, Vivian Gale, Barbara Lynn, Debra Elaine and Diane Marie; two step-sons, Bill Richards of Washington and Larry Richards of Placerville; sister Marguerite Henry and her family, Louise Ross of New Mexico, Mary Woolsey of San Jose, Virginia and Bill Henry Jr. of Gilroy; a cousin, Robert Glover and his two sons, Mike and Eric of Morgan Hill, Susan Glover, of Fresno, and his life-long friend Carlos Creeger, of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda; parents, Charles and Alice Boyce; and son, Carl Ray Boyce.

In respect to Boyce’s request, no services will be held.
