James Durward “Doc” Stockton died Friday, April 1, 2005 at V.I.P. Living Center in Irving, after a brief illness.
One of eight children, Mr. Stockton was born on Oct. 15, 1914, in Chico, Wise County, Texas, to James Burton Stockton and Ivy Myrtice Parker. Before moving to the metroplex, he lived on the Crutch Ranch near Borger, Hutchinson County, Texas, where he worked for many years as an oil pumper.
He served in the 74th Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army in World War II, and was a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by a daughter, Jimmy Darlene Watson; younger sister, Sammy Ruth Pace Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Florence “Flossie” Vyeda of Gilroy.
A graveside service will be held at 11am Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas.
