John R. Winn died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in San Francisco after
a brief illness. He was 71.

Mr. Winn owned Winn & Company Insurance Brokers from 1955 until 1994. Since 1994, he has remained active in the business, which his son Don now owns. Mr. Winn loved both water-skiing and motorcycles. From his classic Chris Craft to his offshore race boat John loved to be on the water. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW and the B.P.O.E.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Winn of Gilroy.

He is the father of Donald Winn of Hollister and Patty Dumas of Purcell, Okla., and stepfather of Mark, Matt, Michelle and Michael Wallace. He is the brother of Peggy Ford of Nipomo and Mike Winn and Pat Winn, both of Hollister. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2004, at St. Mary Church, 11 First Street, Gilroy, under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.

Donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or St. Mary’s Medical Center, San Francisco in his memory.
