John Salas Rojas died peacefully at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003.
He was born March 17, 1922, in Sinaloa, Mexico, to Eleno Bueno Rojas and Florencia Salas. He first became a resident of San Benito County in 1943, residing in San Juan Bautista then later in Hollister. He was 81 years old.
John had six children, Johnny Rojas, Raymond Rojas, Adela Rojas, Angelina Rojas, Lucy Rojas-Perez and Joe Rojas; 11 grandchildren Corrina Rojas, Christina Rojas Lujan, Ivrie Perez De Alba, Ray Perez, Ray “Jito” Rojas, Joe Angel Rojas, Raylene Rojas, Sharleen Rojas, Joe Rojas Jr., Jovanna Rojas and Joshua Rojas. He was also survived by five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nicolasa Rojas.
John was a member of the Apostolic Assembly Center in Hollister. He loved roses, animals, fishing, watching his novelas, soccer, baseball and playing Bingo with his friends at the Senior Center and Jovenes de Antano.
Friends are invited to visit at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home today until 9 p.m. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Eliseo Castillo of Prince of Peace Church and John Benevides of The Apostolic Assembly Center will officiate.
Interment and graveside services will follow the funeral at the IOOF Cemetery.
Donations are preferred to Hazel Hawkins Northside Convalescent Hospital.
