You’re a CMAP member. You’ve always wanted to do a talk show, or maybe a cooking show in the studio. But where to begin? How do you get the camera people and everything?
On March 5, we’re going to provide those answers for you at our first studio mixer entitled “Cruise for Crews.”
Leading you on this cruise will be Admiral Kelly Abbott, the CMAP operations manager, as well as some other spirited staffers who want to make your fantasy studio show come true. Aside from the usual food, drinks and fun, you’ll learn a thing or two.
Featured on the cruise will be demos on how to put a cheap set together, how to get a crew, and refreshers on how to use the studio equipment. Rumor has it that the ship’s crew has put together some fun door prizes for all attendees as well, including advanced workshop gift certificates, CMAP merchandise, and a Video Production Gift Pack.
The ship sets sail on Friday, March 5 at 6pm sharp in the Gavilan College TV studio, Room L-140. If you’re interested in getting on board, give Kelly a call at 846-4983 x2. Space is limited.
Moving on to people that are already producing shows for Public Access Channel 20… Kudos once again to the guys of Five Minutes to Freedom for a magnificent job on their second music video, “Remember Yesterday.”
These guys are not only becoming seasoned musicians at the ripe old age of 20 something, but they cut together a heck of a video as well. “Remember Yesterday” has everything from the dramatic re-enactment in the cemetery of a love lost, to the MTVish shaky live performance footage in someone’s garage.
The audio mix is strong on the song itself, making the visuals that much more meaningful against the melody. Good job guys… look forward to the next one.
You can catch the Five Minutes to Freedom video on CMAP Channel 20 in between programs, generally at the top of the hour, or on the half hour. Those six minute spots make for great filler!
Another Kudos (belated, albeit …) to intern Stacey Anderson, who produced a program at The Wise Owl bookstore in Gilroy that our viewers are still enjoying. “Cooking is a Hoot” features a demo by J.R. Brewski’s Executive Chef Brendan Vermillon, right in the bookstore.
It must have been tough for people to shop for books and not get hungry. The ingredients look scrumptious. Brendan features a Roasted Yellow Pepper and Garlic Soup, as well as others during the program. Aside from the recipes, he offers a few pearls of wisdom for his audience: Chefs never make mistakes. … Chefs make creations; and one that was new on me, if you wear contacts while cutting onions you won’t cry. Who would have thought? Have to ask the husband to try that one …
Catch Cooking is a Hoot Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 20. Future air dates can be found on our Web site at www.mycmap.org. Just click on the remote control for channel schedules.
