Jose C. Gutierrez

Jose C. Gutierrez (Polkas) 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Manuel and Agapita Marroquin Gutierrez. He migrated to the USA in 1947 heading north following crop seasons. He settled in Hollister in June of 1960 where he became an employee of Almaden. He worked many years and had lots of wonderful memories after retiring from Almaden in 1975. He played harmonica and the accordion and enjoyed listening to music, liked dancing, telling stories, laughter and writing poetry in Spanish. He especially loved being surrounded by his family and friends. He will be remembered by the love, respect and compassion he had for life, work and people. He was a dedicated and amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His positive thinking and strong will to live is what we will treasure forever.

He is survived by his brother, Reynaldo Gutierrez of N.L. Mexico, children, Irma Vasquez (Exiquio) of Texas, Isreal Gutierrez Sr. (Isabel) of Hollister, Asael Gutierrez (Christina) of Hollister, Laurentina Paine (Joe) of Hollister, Rebecca Villegas (Richard) of Hollister, Ernesto Parrao (Edith) of Washington, Jose Gutierrez (Trina) of Texas, Daisy Hamilton (Bill) of Tracy, John Gutierrez of Texas, Enrique Gutierrez (Delia) of Hollister, Genard Gutierrez (Nellie) of Texas, Oralia Gutierrez of San Francisco, Elvia Skow (Karl) of Hollister. He had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces. Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Severa Gutierrez and his daughter, Wilma Farias, brother, Ernesto Gutierrez, grandsons, Angel Gutierrez and Ray Villegas.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 7th St. Hollister.

A celebration of his life will follow the memorial services at The First Presbyterian Church, 2066 San Benito St., Hollister
