Karin Nadia Multz Lindsay, beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend, died on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy. She was 69.

She was born July 30, 1935 in Boulder City, Nevada.

Unfortunately, early Tuesday morning, as she was preparing for yet another operation, her fight to survive made an unexpected turn. Holding hands with her daughters at her bedside, she peacefully left this earth as they thanked her for being so brave, for so long.

Mrs. Lindsay had survived seven major abdominal surgeries within the last two years. Even though she had endured painfully slow recoveries, she always managed to be kind and gracious to her many caregivers, and family, regardless of her agony. Her family was truly blessed by her strength and determination to live.

Before her important role of grandmother, Mrs. Lindsay owned and operated a typesetting and graphics business first named ‘The Paper Mill,’ then later ‘Phoenix Typesetting.’ Her talents were fundamental to the early 1980s and 1990s development of downtown Morgan Hill. Her name is proudly inscribed on a plaque at Cochrane Business Park. She was a member and also a President of Business and Professional Women for several years. She also volunteered at Saint Catherine’s School and was highly involved as a Girl Scout Leader for the better part of the 1970s. She loved to sing and cook and was always happy to make something new, ‘Karin-isms!’

Previous to her graphics career that she prospered at while raising her children, she was very proud to have been an employee at Lockheed Space Systems in Sunnyvale. There she worked for the Apollo Space Program. Prior to Lockheed, she was happily employed by Pan American Airlines for five years as an international stewardess. She literally went everywhere. She had attended De Anza and Foothill Colleges and was a very proud member and cheerleader with her classmates at Alameda High School, all in California.

Mrs. Lindsay is survived by her elder sister, Margaret Serrantino; younger brother, Hugh Multz; two nieces and three nephews; two daughters; Kathleen Lindsay Noble, and Kristine Lindsay Koontz; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Lindsay, also known as ‘Gam-mah Karin’ and ‘Ladybug,’ was preceded in death by her loving parents, Rudolph and Inez Multz; and her eldest brother, Rudy Multz.

Visitation will be held at 8am, Saturday Feb. 12, 2005, at Habing Family Funeral Home 129 4th Street, Gilroy. Funeral services will be at 10am at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory are preferred and appreciated.
