Kathryn was the beloved wife of Charles Haines for 25 yrs, although they were together for over 35. She was preceded in death by her mother Jessie E. Ray and Grandson Tony Carreiro. Kathy is survived by her sister Lanetta Bishop, and was the loving mother of Cheryl Carreiro of Tres Pinos, Shelley Redd of Klamath Falls and Julie Ashe of San Juan Bautista, and extended children Charlene Lukkasson, Judy Nadler, Janet Mazsei and Lenny Haines. Between Charlie and Kathy they shared 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Kathryn Louise Benigar was born January 6, 1938 to Jessie Jane Elliott and Beryl Benigar in Angles Camp California. She lived in Angles Camp until 1947 when she moved to Hollister, California. She graduated from San Benito County High School. She worked in Hollister for many years and then moved to Morgan Hill where she lived until her death.
Kathy loved life every day. She always had a smile, there was never a job to big or task too hard.
Kathy spent many hours on horseback in her early years while living in Tres Pinos. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to ride and participate in rodeo. She loved to fish and loved the Hat Creek Area in Shasta County where Charlie and she had a cabin and stayed often. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, January 7 at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
