DEAR EDITOR:
Funding for our Morgan Hill Library, and the whole Santa Clara County library system, is in jeopardy. Twenty-one percent of the monies which keep the library open and operating can end this year if we don’t pass Measure B on March 2.
The Library Benefit Assessment which has provided that element of library funding was passed in 1994 but ends this year, and Measure B would replace it with a modest $8 a year increase over the previous measure.
Usage of our library has grown 80 percent since 1994 and we need a bigger one, but even more important at this moment, we need to keep ours open as many hours as possible. A comfortable place for reading, doing research or homework, finding video and audio tapes.
Our library provides us with that asset. Please join us in supporting Measure B in March. Keep our libraries open.
