Gilroy – The Gavilan Lady Rams won their 20th game with a 4-1 victory over San Francisco City College on Wednesday afternoon in San Francisco.

It marks the first time a Gavilan softball team has won 20 games in a season since 1988. The Lady Rams are just the fifth Gavilan team to win 20, and finish the season 20-17 overall and 11-12 in the Coast Conference South.

The Lady Rams must now cross their fingers and hope they secure an at-large berth in the Northern California junior college playoffs.

Gavilan head coach Tim Kenworthy heads to a conference meeting to discuss Gavilan’s playoff hopes today. The Lady Rams’ fate will be decided at a seeding meeting in Sacramento Friday evening.

“We’ve had a great year and this was a great way to conclude it, with this W, the 20th win,” said Kenworthy Wednesday.

“This puts us in with the top four teams in Gavilan softball history.”
