The board of the Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation Commission, which will eventually decide whether San Martin can incorporate, will tour the area this afternoon, officials said.

The tour will begin about 1 p.m. following a 20-minute orientation at San Martin Lions Club Hall, 12415 Murphy Ave., and end at 3:15 p.m. The public can attend but residents have to provide their own transportation.

LAFCO’s five commissioners are Santa Clara County supervisors Don Gage and Blanca Alvarado, San Jose city councilman Pete Constant, Sunnyvale councilman John Howe, and Susan Vicklund-Wilson, a Morgan Hill attorney who serves as the public representative.

Constant is LAFCO chair and Vicklund-Wilson is vice chair.

“There is two reasons” for the tour, Gage said. “We need to see the boundaries and two, there was disagreement over whether (the land is) agricultural or rural residential. I suggested that we look at the property, they found the date and that’s what we’re going to do.”
