Scenes From Gilroy’s Past
Gilroy – On Saturday at 1:30pm in the Gilroy Museum, the public is invited to see the The Gilroy Historical Society’s premiere of “Scenes From Gilroy Past”, four glimpses into Gilroy’s yesteryears made possible by a grant from the Gilroy Foundation. Â
Popcorn and soda will be served and copies of the film will be on sale at the Museum.
Four reels of film were transferred and compiled into a single digital video disc, no footage was edited out, simple titles between sequences are the only addition. The sequences are: Gilroy Gymkhana (from the mid-1950s); Gilroy National Guard at Camp San Luis Obispo (probably early 1940s); Armistice Day (probably early 1920s); and Football (probably early 1920s).
The Society is anxious for viewers who will help answer the who, when, and where questions that remain about the films.
Once more is known about the films, the Society plans to add narration and sound tracks.
