Gilroy – Police are trying to solve a mysterious kissing caper, where an identified suspect entered an unlocked house on the 7100 block of Rosanna Street and tried to kiss a sleeping woman.

The 20-year-old female was asleep on a couch in the front portion of the house at 1:17am Wednesday when she awoke to a find a man leaning down to kiss her.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing dark jeans and a white shirt. He fled southbound on Rosanna.

Crab feed aids scholarships

Gilroy – The Knights of Columbus Council 2469 will host a Crab Feed at St. Mary’s Parish Hall on Saturday , Feb. 18. Happy Hour is at 6pm followed by the Crab Feed at 7pm. Food will be prepared by chef Joe Peralta and local group “The Corvairs” will provide music for dancing.

Proceeds from this event will benefit Knights of Columbus scholarships and other activities. Tickets are $35 each and are available at the Parish Office at 55 First St. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Sharing Stories of World War II

Gilroy – The Gilroy Library and other local community groups are inviting anyone with a memory about experiences on the home or war fronts during World War II to share them with the community in two special programs.

– Wartime Correspondence: Letters From World War II invites people to look through their family treasures and bring letters written during World War II or a a memento or souvenir from that time to share and tell the story behind it. The program will be held at the Gilroy Senior Center (corner of Sixth and Hanna Streets) on Saturday, February 18th at 2 pm. All are invited to come and listen or take part in this program.

– An additional program, Wartime Memories: Remembering World War II, encourages people to write memoirs or conduct interviews about WWII experiences and post them to the discussion board of the Silicon Valley Reads Web site.

Dog owners create fundraiser

Morgan Hill – The Morgan Hill Dog Owners Group will be hosting a Valentine’s social and dance fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 17, at the Morgan Hill Community Center, between the hours of 8 and 11pm. The proceeds of the event will go toward the creation of an off-leash dog park in Morgan Hill.

“A Dessert to Remember” will be a black-tie optional dessert and wine sampling event complete with silent and live auctions and live music performed by Morgan Hill favorites, The Fastlane Band.

A professional photographer will be taking formal pictures at the event. In addition to the silent and live auctions there will also be a Treasure Chest where attendees will purchase keys, one of which will open the Treasure Chest that contains an item valued at more than $750. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $35.
