Bill: perchlorate research
Washington – A $604.4 billion spending bill approved by the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee Thursday includes a provision urging the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences to perform more research into perchlorate exposure.
The bill recommends clinical studies on humans or primates designed to provide information on the contaminant’s long-term effects and studies geared toward studying pregnant women and children.
“It’s absolutely critical that we learn as much as we can about the dangers of perchlorate exposure, so that we can adequately protect all Americans from harm due to perchlorate contamination,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Cal., said.
